You sound like all the fat people who tell me I'm just thin because I have a fast metabolism.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Dec-30-2009 23:06:

ok then, i'll do you one better. Eating like shit can damage your liver just as much as alcohol. Exercise does not change this.

healthy = / = thin.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-30-2009 23:12:

Luckily I'm not much of a drinker.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Dec-30-2009 23:14:

i have a boyfriend who likes sharing the kitchen with me so it's great.

i just come home sooo late. I def try to cook nice meals on the weekend but.. for instance.. mon- thurs for the next 6 weeks i get out of school at 9pm..... I wont get home till 1030. That basically means I am baking some tofu buffalo chicken.. making lettuce wraps.. or eating tuna. Cuz that's the only thing I can eat late at night - nothing too heavy.

gotta start stocking up now

Posted by Aesthetic on Dec-30-2009 23:23:

Actually not really.. All fatty food is, is extra energy that you need to burn. If you burn it all off then it's not in you anymore, is it? You just have to make sure you burn any excess you take in for your weight/height/age

I wouldn't even know where to begin with your worst case scenario

EDIT: make that about 20 restaurants. It's too tempting

i found it pretty hard to cook when i was living on the east side too.

at least there are a lot of healthy options - Ee Sane, Maharaja, Beans & Barley, Hotch-a-Do, Apollo, etc.

i still love fast food but i usually save it for special occasions. my tradition for Taco Bell over the last few years was that i'd only eat it when i was flying through Detroit. but since i'm not doing that regularly anymore i'm going to have to find a new excuse to eat Taco Bell 2-3 times per year.

living with us, we just got lazy. and too hungover to cook. and too poor.

apollo cafe is not that healthy though imo. it's a fail faux-OG-style joint. faux-G, if you will.

If you're eating two fast food meals a day, your liver probably is going to be fucked. Just like if you drink five pints a day.

being poor is no excuse! i am cooking dinner for 8 people tomorrow and it's not costing me more than $20.

Apollo is healthy depending on what you get, and WAY better than OG, imo. i always went with the horiatiki salata and dolmathes. yeah, if you're going there for a hamburger and fries, there's no point in saying it's healthy. their fries with feta are pretty good, though.

this thread is making me hungry.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Dec-30-2009 23:57:

of course, i am only trying to show that exercise helps, but will not eliminate all damage done by fast food consumption merely by "burning it all off".

i await your book that i will respond to with 2 sentences or less.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Dec-30-2009 23:59:

if you drink 5 pints a day and exercise, you will also still damage your liver.

i don't like apollo at all. all i've had there was a burger, and it was fucking meh. i can only handle greek food on occasion though.

and i dunno if you understand m, we were BROKE broke. like, peanut butter sandwiches ONLY-type broke there was a whole week where all i had to eat was eggs, bread, and potatoes. i ate variations of eggs for every meal.. fried eggs and potatoes, french toast, fried eggs and toast, egg sandwiches, etc. my cholesterol must've skyrocketed that week. *vomits*

Posted by lcid on Dec-31-2009 00:00:

i haven't eaten junk food in a while. i'm going to destroy so many hot dogs, falafels and slices of pizza while i'm in nyc this weekend.

not to mention the unhealthy amount of PBR i'll be washing it all down with.

Yeah, the other guy is wrong about that. My point is you don't need willpower to avoid eating 14 Big Mac meals a week.

i hear ya. i'm telling you though, you CAN eat good even if you're really broke. take for example my dinner last night...

juice of half a lemon
1 egg
big handful of fresh parsley

put that all in a mini blender and pour it over pasta while still on the stove, stirring it and letting it thicken before you serve it. sprinkle on some parmesan cheese (or fresh-grated romano if you're feeling baller) and you're good to go!

yeah, there's no meat but you get the vitamin C from the lemon, protein from the egg, vitamins from the parsley (you can use any fresh herb really), and the carbohydrates in the pasta fill you up. it's simple and delicious, and proabably doesn't cost more than $1.50 for one serving.

i lol'd at grated romano

you're just lucky that your mom stocks that shit up in your fridge :P

right now in my fridge i have 4 beers, 3 fruit cups, sriracha, and a liter of cola.

exposure to oxygen and heat (aka cooking) kills vitamin c in citrus.

/joy killer

Nobody ever said you're supposed to eat this shit every day did they? Not even the fast food chains do
