I asked him what the fuck Booty House was, so he played me some tracks, and said it was from Detroit. I was fucking rolling around on the floor laughing. It's truly ghetto fabulous. I couldn't believe ppl actually wanted to hear an entire set of it. Def. NOT for me.

Other than his parties though, I've never heard anything else about it? Where is it currently being played in T.O.????

With the exception of DJs who might drop a Booty cut or two into their sets, it isn't.

The more accomplished Booty/Ghetto House/Ghetto-Tek DJs tend to have a background in turntablism - without that, full sets of this kind of music can be pretty yawn inducing. Jeff Cochrane, a.k.a. Vortex, was easily one of the best Booty DJs to come out of Toronto - he later switched to straight-up Techno, but I coerced him into playing a full-on bounce set at my going away party before I went overseas in '99. Mike Tull is another name that comes to mind - pretty sure he's one of the guys Dave and Irving brought in for the short-lived "Dirty Motor" nights you're referring to.

The Don, Brian Jeffries a.k.a. DJ Godfather...

Ah yes....I believe it was DJ Godfather that Dave was playing for me. He said the Dirty Motor parties were pretty wild. I really respect him and Irving for bringing in DJ's that are risky (don't have a large established fan base in toronto). Anything different is always a nice change. I enjoyed hearing Dubstep recently at FW, but it was funny to see how much 'most' people HATED IT! Not that i know a lot about Dubstep, but that one set def. wasn't a good one to judge it on. It could have been better. I hope that's not that last I hear of Dubstep!

Even though all genres may not fly here, it's still nice to see Promoters and clubs taking chances on talent, and genres that are outside of the box. I actually regret not attending any of the Dirty Motor parties, just for the entertainment value.

A true ghetto-tek/booty night is AWESOME! The DJs are fast and furious with their mixing, cuts, flips etc... it's really something you have to witness. And the dancing WOW LOL! The dancing!

CLASSSSSSSSIK!

Posted by revival on Jan-08-2010 09:13:

God I used to play this stuff 3 nights a week with one night being dedicated full on to booty Sundays at the music cafe. Im pretty sure Work It was my most played record in the history of djing. I have a create of classics somewhere. God it all sounded the same but there was nothing like the energy of a full on booty ghettotech night... nothing. I would love to hit up for cdj's, pioneer 800 and an efx unit one night and go straight, I could only imagine. My fav (Sex on the Beach or wheres my cheque stub, get your own check stub) lol

Only in the D!

Posted by gl.tch on Jan-08-2010 15:51:

alright- so who wants to throw a night? I'll play!

this is the only video i could find of a truly epic windsor mid 90s bar tune LOL

Posted by revival on Jan-09-2010 04:47:

Yup Windsor did have quite the unique club culture back then thats for sure. I remember being with dubfire 2 years ago at a gig in Detroit, he dropped the perculator and the place went nuts!!!

Any of u guys remember the Hot Body contests we used to do. Those days were CraZy.

Posted by gl.tch on Jan-09-2010 05:02:

One of my all time favorites.

As true today as when it was first spoken.

Posted by gl.tch on Jan-09-2010 05:11:

"All you ladies who think you're pretty... Get on the floor and shake them titties!"

This one is worth listening the whole way through.

"This is titty city."

Quite possibly the best ghetto sleaze lyrics I've ever heard.

Posted by gl.tch on Jan-09-2010 05:19:

Finally, I think if we're gonna start a revival we have to get hip to the old scene.

It's kinda played, but always attracts a crowd and smiles:

The dance video is extra gold!

NEW DANCE SHOW FTW!!!!!

This show was Detroit's Electric Circus. We used to come back from the club/bar or baarrrr as windsorites call it and watch this show completely smashed... It used to have a lot of really good detroit and chicago techno on it.

The best were the ghetto ass commercials that they used to put on. CLUB MOZAMBIQUE and SINGLETONS CLEANERS come to mind.... oh yeah and HATS GALORE AND MORE!!

Remo you def know what im talking about here LOL!!

Posted by Jayx1 on Jan-09-2010 18:36:

Holy crap here are the commercials!!!

HATS GALORE AND MORE!!! check out the pimp hats! hahahaha

And singletons... that freakin old school presser! hahahaha

AND YOU CANT FORGET MEL FARR THE SUPERSTARR!
