Alright, I have marked John Bowen Synth Design on my list...
I am also toying with the idea of video reviews while I'm there. Mind you it would be with my shitty point-and-click Nikon, and my not-as-shitty M-Audio Microtrack...But if they'll let me plug into their kit, that will help.

Originally posted by cryophonik Yeah, check out the Access Virus booth as soon as you get there and speed dial me if there are any new products. Grab me a t-shirt while you're at it (XL/tall).Also, I just noticed that John Bowen is going to be there - stop by and check out the Solaris (or whatever synths he's got). http://www.johnbowen.com/solaris-overview.html

I prefer the black version for some interracial fun.
Yeah, but I doubt whether it'll actually make it to production. and even if it did, the price would be obscene, and TBH it just doesn't look that much better than your average virus or other synth with a mod matrix. Modular synths are overrated IMO.

i shall be there

Originally posted by cryophonik It did make it to production - it was announced over a year ago IIRC and the list price was around $3500. I thought I read somewhere that he only produced like 25 units in the first release, not sure how many since.
The Andromeda sells for that much and hell, I'd pay that. In fact I probably will soon. Virus TI retails for more than that too.

I can't be at Namm, but i got sonicstate!
So it begins:

I might pick this baby up!

The APC20 will be available from pro audio and musical instrument retailers in January 2010. It has a U.S. Retail Price of $299.00 and an estimated street price of $199.00
Picked up my badge yesterday. Let's do this!
MoPho Keys!
Initially I was pissed when I heard it wasn't a Tetra keys, BUT this MoPho can be Polychained to a Tetra for 5 voices. AND it's "knobby". AWESOME. They really got it right with this from a business stand-point by getting both those who wanted a Tetra keys and a Mopho keys with one unit. I will definitely be getting one of these instead of a Polar.

And, still on the topic of the MoPho keys, I saw in a video that they indeed have combined the envelopes, oscs, and a few other paramaters into knob sets selectable with buttons. That has never botehred me from a programming perspective so I'm all for it if it saves space and $$.

Originally posted by kitphillips Well dude, its a fairly simple looking beast and everyone complained about the arturia origin's price which was a similar price and a similar concept, but with more different modules. Just pointing that out. AS far as comparison with the virus goes, 15 voices vs 80. Nuff said. I can see the appeal of the virus for building up huge layers, I can't see what your going to do with 15 voices really, unless each one is as good as a minimoog or something, which I doubt. No mention of multitimbrality either..?
I guess you were talking about the Solaris?
Oscillators Four (4) oscillators. Each can be of the following types:
* MultiMode (standard waveshapes, combinations, plus double saw)
* WaveTable (wavetables 1-64 from the Waldorf Microwave synthesizers)
* Sample playback (.wav file or Akai format)
* CEM VCO chip model (like those used in the later Rev. 3.x versions of the Prophet 5)
* model of the waveform oscillators used in the Prophet VS
* (temperature stable) model of the oscillators used in the MiniMoog.
Seems pretty cool if done right. Audio demos aren't anything even close to amazing. I bet the Arturia stuff can sound identicle to these demos...
