as a fellow old guy, you know as well as i do that it is not like it was.

rave is a 4 letter word for a reason. When it really died in the late 90's it was a good thing. Just because a few candy kids throw parties that no one really goes to other than 20 or 30 other candies does not make it a rave.

rave is dead, come up with a new thing instead of trying to relive a time period you were too young to enjoy, knawatamean?

well in the old days we had 3000 peeps parties, because we didn't have house parties, techno parties, dnb parties, electro parties and each one of them bashing one another... now we have 30 X 100 peeps parties.

i'm not trying to relive that time period dude, i always lived it and still do. Just fun to see kids doing the same type of parties i did at same age.

if you'd come to circus on NYE, you could of feel the vibe i am refering to. Many people told it felt like a rave, with the two packed rooms.

rave des pompiers is still around 500 peeps.

i don't know how to say it but rave > rave parties as you refer.

like i wrote once on the same subject, rave is even a branding in 2010 for producers.

sfini

you can lump a bunch of kids in a room in bell bottoms and play disco records, that does not make them disco.

In my opinion, this movie is garbage. Not only they are not allowed to use the music without prior agreement, but they also used images from Bal en Blanc and Sensation Quebec, and the quality of thos eimages is very bad, and it was filmed through cellphone cameras, by individuals who never received the necessary credentials from Playground Productions, nor from the DJs.

Furthermore, this poor movie is taking mentalities 20 years behind, and is showing old and wrong perceptions of this type of events. With regards to raves, there hasn't been a rave in Montreal for at least 10 years. The real definition of a rave party comes from "Free Party" that used to designated events that used to take place outside of the rules and restrictions of venues.

With all rules to which producers of dance events currently must abide, there is no more link at all with the original definition of the word rave.

Real rave parties do not exist anymore, and this movie feels exactly like those petty producers who try to rehash Woodstock but 40 years too late.

He even used videos taken at tribe without any authorization either
he is going to find himself facing a couple of lawsuits in my opinion

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-21-2010 03:11:

i doubt there will be lawsuits as that would be more expensive than it is worth, probably a few cease and desist orders at most.

you can't get blood from a stone.

i don't think i need to specify...

but after reading my pms i am doubting someone has the intention of causing me troubles because of this thread.

so i need to specify i am not associated with this crap movie that no one has seen but are already judging by the poor website.

i always post everything that comes out from our scene, good or bad, this wasn't an exception.

sorry again if some feel offended by this thread.

just need to take the appropriate measures to the right people.

i already asked malek to delete it.

btw, i haven't seen antonino in 2 years. Don't know the drama around this film. Posted it out of surprise of seeing it announced after hearing about it 2 years ago.

Posted by Schadenfreude on Jan-21-2010 17:58:

i think we all know that you have nothing to do with this movie.

honestly if anything deleting this thread is bad, because people that piggyback off the work of others without giving due credit deserve to be publicly shamed, especially if they seek to be acclaimed by doing this.

we'll let the thread die, as the movie deserves no publicity from this thrad.
