i would bitch about the players i think should be on team canada that are not, but i would be here all day. I am really really looking forward to this tourney.
Halak is on fire...I really hope he can get a bronze...it would mean we could trade him for more...even though i want price gone
Oh.. i seem to have found a thread nobody cares about....
in the sd nevertheless
for the record mein lieber mario, i care a freaking lot
Mexico does not have an Olympic team...so he is just being butthurt.
I hate to say it but I think Russia will win gold. Canada will improve on their 7th place finish in the last Olympics with a silver. I think bronze will go to Finland.
not worried about USA at all...how can I be....look how good the leafs are doing.
slovakia all the way...my boy halak will hopefully have a little bling soon.
i really hope they win bronze.
team usa...eessssh...ryan miller is slumping big time right now....if that happens in v city...bye bye usa.
After all of these years, i still love Wayne Gretzky.
Let the games begin.
Ryan Getzlaf might be out...we have a million other players that can replace him, but i really like Getzlaf.
Can't wait for the Canada vs Russia final (
)...but go Slovakia!
in a few days - US vs. Canada and Russia vs. Czech Republic - also Finland vs. Sweden for those who care about such things.
a great day of hockey tho!
i'm waiting for the day when canada and russia meetup.
it starts today.
poor Norwegians.
I really hope Team Canada does not choke this time.

russia doesn't open until the 18th, hate waiting.
i hope for you guys that Markov's injury does not hamper him too much...he is your best d man by far, and the last few weeks he has been painful to watch.
russia's biggest weakness is on defense...but with an offense like that it should not be a big factor until they play the bigger teams in the tourney.
anton volchenkov will block a lot of shots for you guys though, which will be great for the pk. other than that he has so little mobility and does not make a good first pass.
i'm wondering what the pairings will be.
No surprises yesterday...ass kickings all around.
the game of the day will be the Czech Republic vs Slovakia by far...i can't wait, it should be a great watch.
Germany will be a much tougher opponent for us than Norway. I was surprised that Latvia actually scored 2 against the Russians, good for them
like you said, Russia's weakness is defense... although i'd debate that both goals were stoppable and could be blamed on the GKing too.
yeah, nabokov was weak on both...it is better that he gives those up against latvia, because he can't afford to do that against any team after the prelims. Even with all of the offensive talent of the big 6 teams in the tourney, with the smaller ice surface the games should be tight when the weak links get bounced.
i wonder if luongo starts again, or brodeur gets a go tonight. They can't take Germany lightly, they are a lot better than they used to be.
This Canada-Switzerland game is getting real interesting ..........
canada is sweatin' son! brodeur is keeping them in this impressively
edit: the swiss goalie is off the hook too. great game!
brodeur! what a shootout!
how bout dem ruskis?
they lost last night to Slovakia in a shootout.
then again, group play isn't that important. the only important thing is placing in the top 4 to get the 1st round bye.
Its only the prelims, but it is still nice to see the rest of the world playing well. It is a great thing for the sport.
Many great little stories are writing themselves this year.
an embarrassing olympics, this, for the motherland.
but, like jay said, it's good to see a little parity in the sport. and it's definitely good for the NHL, a lot of people are making a name for themselves. for example i will be watching a lot more of Jonas Hiller on the Ducks.
indeed. Jonas Hiller was a beast on the net against the Canadian onslaught. He did fall short, but he did give a great performance.
Jonas Hiller definitely robbed Canada of a sure win in regulation a few times. You still have to give credit to the Swiss for hanging in there.
Denys? Why embarrassing? It is only the prelims, and Russia will make it to the next round for sure. A loss in the prelims means nothing, the chemistry has to gel between players that don't usually play together.
