exactly my point. It just changes every year... from trance, electro, tech house, minimal, psyhouse goa gabber techstyle...even techno "isnt techno" anymore...

the question is rather, why are you hearing these same sounds over and over if you dont like it? Do you go to the gallery/fw/cz every week expecting to hear ambient chillout and progtrance? the fuck up.

It's kind of tiring.

I agree. I mean I love my residents and all, but there's no diversity in Windsor. It's all the same shit (I guess it doesn't help considering we have one bar that place EDM). And like I said, I don't even really LOVE it...so when I go out, I dance, I have fun. But it's rare that I "dance my pants off" b/c the tunes are so great.

If I were in Toronto I wouldn't be complaining. There's much more diversity there with the wide variety of DJs that come there. Even if you don't think so at the big clubs, if you want to hear something else...it's still available if you look.

The point is, that it's now hard to find a place that plays anything other than the minimal tech house whatever-the-fuck-garbage-it-is.

And we're voicing our opinion on that fact.

You know, opinion?
Guess you're not familiar with the concept... considering your being such a dumb twat about it.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jan-20-2010 03:18:

You voice the same opinions over and over though. I think that's what he's saying.

I have to agree with Adamo. Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but where are the clubs that you're going to that keep playing the same stuff. The clubs that post events on TOTA may all seem to play the same music, but there are many other parties out there that AREN'T posted on TOTA. If you like a certain style of music, seek it out b/c it's more than likely out there.

As I mentioned above, people who live in Toronto have nothing to complain about as they have club after club after club that play EDM, and bring in a wide variety of DJs. Windsor has one club that plays dance music. We don't have a choice. If you don't like the type of music one club places, check out one of the other ones.

I feel your pain OP, I'm quite tired of it too. I even tried downloading some sets from dj's I havent heard before and about 90% of the sets were tech house. Digweed has been playing some good prog lately, same with Cattaneo... ive been listening to their stuff mostly lately to get away from all this tech house for a bit.

Tech-house is becoming the new electro-house for me personally; Loved it at the beginning but now getting quite sick of it. I find all the songs sound the same, its basically just like 'boom boom boom boom boom boom boom'... they barely have any "flavor" if you know what I mean; its more or less just a monotonous bass beat with little other noises here and there, and the odd breakdown once in a while. The crappy part is that you can't really go anywhere in Toronto without being bombarded by tech-house.

I don't necessarily dislike tech-house, I just wish people would play/produce tracks that have a little more to them than just 'boom boom boom boom'. I know I am not using the proper technical terminology here (I know nothign about music production), but I think you guys know what I am trying to get at.

Like I feel if I brought someone who knew nothing about EDM to a tech-house event they would think the same song was playign the entire time we were there. As opposed to something like progressive house, which, IMO, I am starting to appreciate a lot more after this big tech wave that seems to have overtaken the EDM industry.

Anyone else feel this way? or totally disagree with me? or somewhere in between?

FINALLY!!!! Tech-house Blows. I tried to give it a chance, went to a couple events thinking maybe I was missing something. But no every time I left thinking how the F*ck do people listen to this crap. Are tech-house and minimal the same thing? either way they suck. I've maybe heard like 1 or 2 songs I didn't mind, la mescal or whatever.
We need more choice in music for after hours.

Nice edit, cant say I dont agree!

tech house is a very broad genre... I you dont like one particular sound i wouldnt label or dismiss the whole genre. In general i think it was pretty good in 2009 for tech house. There were new sounds, subgenres, new currents etc. Even though there was lots of garbage objectively tech house as a genre had a good year in 2009 and i can see it doing good this year too.

couple of my favs from 2009

Ron Costa - Al Amanecer

Fabian Argomedo - Due

Prompt - Evolve (Slam Paragraph Remix)

some would say the same about electro, or trance, or any other genre. a lot of music these days is hard to categorize or put in a genre anyway...

i personally love tech house
