Yeah me too if your notching stuff out etc but 2 eqs for a simple low cut?

because reason's equalizer can cut only 18db! and it doesnt have spectrum analyzer but i can hear difference between 1 or 2 equalizers with the same lowcut..

I do low cut a lot, except for my bassy instruments. I also automate them in the break when no bassy things are playing.. open up those lead instruments/pads to occupy this space for that duration

Well were talking abuot a low cut which generally means cutting frequencies that you cant hear to give the speakers more room to breath/move or something. Your talking about eqing in the bass area which is different and I think you should just use your ears and do whatever suits the sound your using.

Are you sure? I thought this topic was about EQing - cutting frequencies in the bass area which is called low cut afaik.

Not necessarily. A good pad will fill that space up nicely and the best part of a lead when sitting in a mix is rarely in that part of the spectrum.

if cutting the bottom end of a sound will allow it to sit in the mix better, i'll do it. i also habitually low-cut certain sounds like percussion & leads.
tho this is a habit i've picked up from producing a different genre of music where the sounds are often bigger and there's less going on.
it all depends on the sounds you're using. a lot of pluck/pike type sounds wouldn't require a low cut, and i'd be more inclined to remove specific frequencies (that the kick sits in) from my bass then to low cut it. i just feel that it allows my bass more room within the mix and gives it more body.

all depends of the context of each sound and the sounds around it
