blah blah blah... less excuses, more show the fuck up

now for those of you fence-sitters who don't know about lee burridge, danny howells, or house music, this is your chance to get a proper education on what makes the scene in san francisco move. back in the summer of 2005, lee burridge was the first major house dj who made a pivotal, game-changing impact on my musical tastes. this was at a time when i was still all about markus schulz and armin van buuren, when i made a leap of faith to attend the love lee party hosted by spundae at mezzanine over some other big trance event across town. up until that point i had never listened to tech house, didn't have an ear for it, and yet the man himself turned this trance-loving edm novice into a major fan of beat-ridden 120bpm dance music in a single night. less than a year later a man named danny howells was booked at another spundae party at ruby skye. i had also never heard of him being at the time immersed in progressive house. well i went in with an open mind and came out with my brains all over the walls after bearing witness to how incredibly flawless this man's mixing and programming was that night. and best of all he did it with a binder full of music i had never heard before. from then on these two guys were cemented in my mind at the top of my personal chart and it was at listed's first party--varsity all-stars with desyn masiello at endup that i begged gunita to bring them back together. that happened just this last year and it was everything i expected and more. anyone who was there will attest to the musical vortex that consumed all within earshot. this time around, however, craig and bill are sitting it out and we are being blessed with just the heavyweights: lee and danny, back to back. buckle up folks...

When are you flying back? I'll be at a wedding Friday night in Portland and may want to stop in SF for a night before heading back to LALAland.

Posted by DaveT on Feb-17-2010 09:38:

The Sunday or Monday. Michelle will fly back Sunday, but I might stay an extra day to say high to friends, people I used to work with, etc, and never got a real chance to say a proper goodbye when I moved from SF (since I moved a couple months early, unexpectedly).

It really depends on flight prices. I only have the tickets to SF right now. I haven't booked the return flights yet. Prices are high on both Sunday and Monday right now (edit: Virgin has Monday flights for $56 now, but everyone is over $100), but should come down (according to Farecast) in the next few days.

I'll prob just book Virgin tomorrow morning to fly home on the Monday.
