i went here the day of the WC Final (sunday)- ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!

great atmosphere, the people are incredible- such unity, the food is good (forgot what we ordered but yea...meat, meat, meat and fried yucas ) and big portions for the price, drinks...well, i was just sippin on heinys but $4 cant beat that!!! the guy i met up with was really cool...got there around 4ish, small place on broadway with a huge brasilian flag in the front window with a backdoor that led to all the surrealism...

he was telling me how everyone, which seemed to be regulars, come from the beach n other places to have a good time and enjoy the night away..i was soooo impressed, everyone was so friendly, greeted me, the women were beautiful, lots of dancing to the GREATTTT live music- fell in love with this place! def a spot to hit up on the regular

I posted something about it in another thread, I think. It is def a bit of a tourist trap, but I love that it's a one-stop shop for everything Italian, how could it not be awesome? Before, I had to run to 3 different places to get Italian stuff. I'm a big fan of a lot of the products they sell there; I got an amazing bottle of olive oil and some fantastic Aceto Extra Vecchio, their panettone was delicious and just like I remember how panettone should be, their farro salad is teh NOM and I LOVE the Razza Piemontese they serve at the restaurant. And then being able to take some home from the butcher is another awesome thing for me.

For the tipped employees, it's absolute shit. That whole tip-pooling BS that B&B has going on is a total scam.

I'm talkin about Hill Country Chicken their fried chicken spot thats around the corner from hill country.

Besides, I'm over Dino alot...my 2nd job works right there so I'm there all the time and still prefer hillcountry over dino. dino doesn't get it right, hillcountry does on all fronts. HC's mac n cheese is 100x better then DInosaur's, same goes for HC's brisket.

Theres actually a lot of really great places that would be V-Day approved in that price range!

In BK i have a ton of suggestions!

Breuckelen has an awesome Prix Fix menu for V-Day last i heard
Saul
Petite Crevette (BYOB- which is great so you can get an amazing bottle of wine ad not spend 100 bucks on it)

Was there a type of food you are looking for?

In manhattan theres Jean Georges which has a seaasonal prix fix at $85 so youll go over your budget but you should seriously consider it!

A place i wan to try which is known internationally is Sugiyama (Japanese food)

Prix Fix menues starting at 45 and going as high as 100)

really i can go on and on and on if without more specific needs hahahha
