Way too much hip hop in this mix for me...
I much prefer his house sound and for the parts of the mix where he got into it, i really liked it

@176 = lil louis - club lonely (such an obvious one)

Haven't had the time to check out the full set, though I have this feeling (some of) his new tracks are probably in here.

@00: Lowrell - Mellow, Mellow Right On

after a good listen, i (unfortunately) have to disagree on you.

the mixing of the set is almost always awful, it more kinda feels like 3 soul albums glued together with 2 knee deep mix albums, randomly played. occasionally, Lovebirds tries to mix some track together, which feels big time (not that they cant DJ, it just no proper mixing on this set). to start a new track, when a previous one ended, is no mixing at all. although mixing soul/disco/etc might be difficult, ive heard dj's make a great efoort out of that (Knuckles, Howells, etc.)

the track selection, although on some places, is not that great i think. to much of different styles. there's no build-up or idea behind the tracklisting.

their previous beta lounge set was way better i think, w/ respect to track selection.

dont believe me wrong; i was first very enthusiastic bout such a big Lovebirds set. i like all styles played, and almost all songs .. but together, there's unfortunately almost no chemistry.
it jus fails

Posted by Shudder on Feb-15-2010 07:43:

its a pretty good chill set.

best transition was from Q-Tip - Breathe & Stop (The Revenge Redd Version) to Tensnake - Holding Back My Love

It's the same sample that Dimitri from Paris - Epilogue

Cole Medina "Love You Inside Out (The Pinches mix)

best edit I've heard in a long time, puts that wolf n lamb nonsense to shame

yeah I hear ya, the flanger is abused in this set, it can be quite annoying at times, and the mixing is far from perfect. but I tend to look at this set more as a great collection of music rather than a seamlessly mixed epic journey...I guess thats why I can forgive the mixing and sloppiness. to each their own I guess, its perfect cocktail hour/sunday afternoon music though

Posted by sot on Feb-17-2010 23:23:

agreed

way too much effin' flanger...wish he would chill with it.

mixing is sloppy too (almost wolf & lamb cut & fade like lol) buttt liek max said, the tracks itself are quite a treat as the diversity in this mix is something that kind of puts the sloppyness of the mixing behind it.

Anyone that drops Boz Scaggs's "Lowdown" in a mix is a hero. Absolute classic right there. On another note and probably a bit out of subject, anyone of you found/know where i can find Lovebirds's track "Smooth and Fat Free" :

Not sure its available digitally, didnt check for vinyls yet though, true true...
