Depending on how much you spent on it. I definitely would take it apart. But that's just me.
I'd do a little research online on DIY tear downs of the unit. Maybe even lob a message up on the vci 100 forums (I'm assuming there's a forum).
I wouldn't imagine it being too cumbersome taking the deck off and giving it a thorough cleaning.
I like taking things apart though.

Do you mean one of the jogwheels is posing some sort of resistance to being turned smoothly? If that's the case, that's happened to me before. It was mainly due to carrying it around in the car. The vibration loosened one of the screws on the bottom of the jogwheel and was sticking out just enough to make contact with the wheel itself. All I did was unscrew the 4 screws holding the jogwheel together, screw the one that was loose and put the wheel back again. Not a big deal at all.

Basically what happens is one of my jogwheels (or "decks", I like to pretend that I'm not just a bedroom DJ
) gets stuck when you touch it, and the red light stays on. It's hard to spin and turn the jogwheel like this. I can hear something rattling around in there, I suppose a screw just got loose and I can probably put it back together if I really try. Thanks for the advice

Beautiful. Just unscrewed it, and screwed the deck back into place. Works like a charm.

Also consider OMni ctrl, it is rock solid, has a soundcard, made of some metal and costrs way less then the vestax.

I recently started mixing a couple months ago and bought the Numark Omni Control. It comes with Traktor LE, but if you get Traktor Scratch Pro you can redefine the knob and keyboard functions (plus get a lot more cool sound effects).
After taxes and shipping, the Omni Control cost me ~$350.
It is very solidly built and has pretty much the same features as other USB controllers.
The pitch slider is a bit too sensitive for me, but usually this is not a problem since I can use the Sync button and pitch bend up/down (if necessary).
