This is true, TA isn't as militant. Suppose he dropped this thread in the CoR though, and it'd have been like a fucking slaughterhouse.

The way I see it, everyone's gotta learn eventually.. While I totally adore enthusiasm it does go overboard in some (many) cases. I see shit like this all the time on a community I administrate where the new pups come and profess their love only to get mauled by the aging and jaded old vanguard - as funny as it is sometimes, it sucks to see people genuinely excited about something attacked for no other reason than someone else having nothing better to do. Le sigh.

The mauling wasn't too bloody IMHO, and as I spoke to earlier, I thought most of it was rather hilarious. By no means though will my enthusiasm be diminshed by anyone's judgement on a forum. My skin's thick enough to bear far more than this. Truthfully though, I had no idea so many were going to jump on the bashwagon so quickly though. Its cool, I have a better idea of how this place works especially considering the PM's I got from those who obviously felt bad for the new guy... Not everyone here is a hater

Oh, exactly - Those who secretly love the music generally keep quiet for fear of looking "out of place" (apparently trance has been uncool since Sasha & Diggers deemed it unfashionable) but that being said, I cannot fucking stand people that are overenthusiastic about things to the point of stupidity - I'm speaking about those making references to trance in any kind of religious or sexual aspect - look around you for "trance is life or religion" / is God / omg!1one / orgasm this or death that / in love with so-and-so.. etc etc. stuff like this makes me uncomfortable to the point of illness. It's reminiscent of the boy-band craze of years past.

I've got a long-standing and well-tested theory that anything with a big chorded riff (preferably in minor keys, but not necessarily the case) and a vocal (no matter how terrible) containing the words love / hope / tears / / soul / or any variant of the above will generally bring more of the aforementioned group out to play, even if they can't understand a single motherfucking sentence being sung.

A record like "These Shoulders" is just the kind of vocal trance that I think the industry needs more of - a great vocal performance with lyrical prose and structure as opposed to just putting random shite in to make it rhyme. While it was a pretty controversial record for us (fans either loved it or hated it, there was no real middle ground) it had great cross-linguistic appeal and did really well overall.

All in all, stick around a bit - we're all pretty awesome 'round these parts. But for fuck's sake, don't turn into one of those. hahahah

I completely understand where you are coming from and appreciate how you articulated your position about all of this. I have to bounce but didn't want to not reply to you. So sorry for the quick response to your somewhat in-depth explanation of why things in this thread happened the way they did.

As for These Shoulders, well my friend the lyrics from that song are intensely unique and loved them from my first listen a year or two ago. It always stuck out to me as unique (lyrically) while also having a sweet trance sound. Sorry if I just got a little too excited just now. Don't want to show too much emotion ;^)

Anyway, I'd like to know what you think about this mix from a DJ out of Israel. Oh, and check out what the first track is. But, I'm curious as to what you personally think about the songs that follow the first track.

FWIW I'm not a fan of all of the songs in the mix but do appreciate about half of them at best b/c there really are some garbage tracks in this particular set...
