-- Olympic luger Nodar Kumaritashvili dies after horror crash in training

Wouldn't the designers of the course realise that if you hit the place he did that something like that could happen
Sorry scratch that, they are doing 100 miles per hour, not kilometres. That's 160km/h with no safety netting and/or padding!
Someone needs to lose their job for this.

This was his second crash this week and he wasn't a medal threat. He isn't even within the top 50 in the world. They need to change the rules as to who qualifies for the olympics...not just in luge but in almost every olympic sport. |
I've actually gone on this course, though only going about 40 mph, and it scared the hell out of me. I can't imagine someone doing 100. Anyways, it's a very dangerous sport. A few years ago someone got decapitated, anyone remember seeing that?
DO indulge.

it was nice that they took a miniute of silence for him at the openingceremonies tonight.
i'm glad he is dead though, because wayne gretzky and steve nash are cooler.

one person dies...it can happen if you cross the street, eat bad seafood, have sex with me.
fuck the nets..no one watches this sport other than in Olympic years (even then...how often have you watched it? i never have), if anything it gives it exposure.
RIP
somebody fucked up making the course so dangerous. I hear even top athletes have trouble with it. I wonder what will the organizers do with the event now

I guess only one Georgian dead is a good thing compared to the start of the last summer olympics...

Looks like his medal hopes came off the rails fairly quickly

I found the video on Youtube. Have a look if you have the stomach. Do it quick before they take it down.
