I gave Euphoria and Swamper a good suggestion for what they can do based on what has worked for other boards. If you want me to pick a fight with you, go ahead, but just know now that you won't win.

You prove my point. Always challenging people. I rest my case.

I honestly never check the event listings forum because it's in event date order. You can never tell what's a new post therefore it's difficult to figure out what's new and what's old.

The colour-coded envelopes next to the thread title help.

I agree, Zack... I love the organization of the event forum, but it seems the loophole is to start a ROLL CALL 3 weeks before the event with flyer and info in it haha... Kinda defeats the purpose... A nice balance of both would be nice... Hard for Z to draw the line on which posters/promoters stay and which go though, so we shouldn't hold it against her...

They can also be posted in the download thread. Check it out.... There are many local sets in there now.
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forum/s...2&forumid=26&s=

As for the interviews etc....

The are only allowed in the Music Discussion. You all know I was posting mine here also and was told it is not allowed.

As for the events. Only stickied events will appear in the main forum. All other events needs to be in the event section otherwise they will be deleted. Repeat offenders will be suspended after 2 or so warnings.

As for the event posted which are creating "tastemaker" threads... I am onto them

As far as events in the main forum...one roll call and one review thread are permited. Roll calls should be posted no earlier than a week or so prior to the event.

Events postings in the event section should be posted as the scheduled date becomes available. We dont want them posted too early which is why the drop down feild for the date is there in the first place. Dont use a different date and specify an alternate date in the title. This will also result in your thread being deleted.

I don't make the rules. I am only following the guidelines that were set for me. If you disagree with those guidelines you may post your greivances here and I will direct swamper to the thread. I cannot guarantee that any changes will be made as a result.

Won't work I'm afraid. We have too many big babies on the board. Wah Wah Wah but you let this person post that so why can't I digging up old threads from before I was a mod not realizing that I wasn't mod then and then ending up looking like a fool

I don't play favorites. If I do it one way I will do it that way for all, friend or foe ROFL

Posted by Disturbed10890 on Feb-18-2010 15:33:

To be honest, I really only see the events that are in this section as a roll call. I occasionally check out the Party thread, but it is easier to see it in the forum title....... I never check any other part of the site besides NY, I have it bookmarked on my browser to go straight there . It is hard to keep organized, but I believe that it will be easier for everyone to see.

The event section is new. We need to get people accustomed to checking that area. Which is why I have been closing the threads in the main forum mainly just relevant to the artist in general (not rollcalls) and re-routing them to the official threads in the event section. After a while of doing this I think it will catch on

It would eliminate clutter if they were all posted within one thread. Since we have a regular download thread we have been using that however I propose may be we can make an NYC local set thread for radio shows, downloads, live sets, and upcoming broadcast info.
What do you all think of this idea?

in my years of being a mod on many sites...

Roll calls went up at least 2 days prior to the event

If a party promo is stickyd, a roll call should not go up but use the sticky thread to talk about that party, this way there is less clutter on the board

thumbs up on this idea

why does Robbie Rivera, BPM Festival, Andy Moor and WMC thread get event threads at the top but Sultan and Ned Shepard don't?

Granted I don't know who Sultan and Shepard are, it just makes me wonder who's collecting the extra cash to get top line views over the others. Maybe they are paying additional membership fee's?

Btw, I'm selling access to the Secret TA downloading area - paypal me and I'll mail you the hall pass.

The usual members will actually make a roll call and update it accordingly, (most of) the promoters who typically start the threads that are being stickied create the thread and bounce. We are lucky that some of them pop in now and then to address questions. Every event thread deserves to be equal, so sticky or no sticky they are all entitled to a roll call assuming someone wants to create one.

Because it's a paid service. If you want a sticky and you are promoting an event please contact [email protected] to address this with Swamper

i'm just here to chime in on the NYTA user mixes. one thread to consolidate all might work if we collaborate. the only downside being is that most of us do enjoy feedback on our mixes, and it can get pretty cluttered having different conversations going on about different mixes.

not to mention, i quite enjoyed being able to just click through one dj's thread.

How about a different thread for diff genres? I know everyone does not all mix trance, so we can have a trance, techno, house, ect...

Well the only other way would be one thread per user and they ALWAYS use that same thread to keep posting updates and new sets. Quite honesly I know Marcello has done that and it seemed to work for him. It's just going to be more difficult for me to merge etc and search for threads for the people who won't bother following the rules.

might spread everything too thin. not to mention, one colsolidated thread might end up broadening someones horizons... i know i wouldn't have gotten into a lot of different dance music if it wasnt for some local dj's that happened to post their mixes up here. and i definitely wouldnt have ventured into those threads if they were labelled by genres i hadn't followed.

i think it should be either all in one, or jst completely up to the DJ. maybe one thread per DJ?

Posted by Swamper on Feb-18-2010 16:48:

I'll post a bigger reply later (since I'm on my phone) but please check the Cali forum to see events mixed in with normal threads + an event forum. Also on the top right side you can toggle whether you see event threads in the main forum. If I recall, I asked if you guys wanted it like that and most of you said no. If you want more event related discussion then that is one way to do it.

I think z is doing what she is told to do, and as here friends we shouldn't expect here to do anything different!

No one is questioning euphoria and we all know she is just following the guidelines set from swamper. The purpose of the thread is to find a better user friendly execution of the NY board. Some things mentioned would help make it more user friendly, hopefully swamper takes the ideas into consideration.
