If it's suggestions that you want to make...there is an entire section of the forums strictly dedicated to just that

See, thats basically the same thing as moving all these posts around...We're all giving feedback on stuff specifically relevant to THIS forum. So, why would we all now go to a completely new sub-forum to restart a discussion that has already been started here?

Same thing in regards to the (now infamous) Brad Miller interview . No one here is gonna go the music section to read it...actually, no one even knew it was posted and moved there to even know it existed. If it stayed here, it would have been read and discussed.

btw...I'll say it again (I PM'ed Zaneta earlier to say this). Z has done a phenomenal job with this site. Obviously, at times like this, the job of being a moderator can be a pain in the ass. But, we all know she can handle the pressure lol. So, please don't take any of the comments personally.

If you can't change the site...change the user. It wouldn't kill anyone to start exploring other sections of the site. If you really want to support someone it shouldn't matter that you have to go to a different section of the forum to do so.

For anything I say here it seems there is clearly going to be a rebuttal and all of this going back and forth really isn't solving anything so this will be my final comment in this thread.

I have linked Swamper to the poll and once he feels sufficient votes have been made he will make the changes.

Everyone else...please feel free to keep beating the dead horse in this thread

the event sub-forum needs to stay!!!

there are tooo many one-time posters who pop in here and dump their promos in the main forum and its the main forum gets all clutter with shit partys that end shutting down by the time Metallica's Seek and Destroy(Live version) is done playing

I understand you guys point of view. I am still relatively new to NYTA since Flta will always be my home

But.. I will say this.

I see why you guys may want things a certain way that pertains to NY and NY only buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut. BIG BUT.. if you venture out - which alot of you do NOT - u will see a pattern*?* with TA. (is pattern a good choice of word? lol)

TA is a lovely site. I've been active since day 1. I have met hundreds and hundreds of TA's. I can't even paint a number because I basically travel to ONLY party with the great friends I have made on this site.

So while it may be nice to have NYTA "your way" and the "majority way" - it's not like that elsewhere.

TA is a great site - learn to use it!!!!!! geez.

I don't know if it's true that NYTAs aren't venturing out in TA. For me, I explore TA a good bit. Every day I check out Music Discussion, New Releases, COR, DJ Promotion, and the FLTA WMC subforum. But I generally lurk there because it doesn't feel like home. Besides some forums are vicious toward new/unknown posters *cough*Music Discussion*cough* But I love it all.

I am curious as to what you see as a pattern, Mel? The Main Forums of TA and the regional subforums seem different from each other, which I think makes them great. I'd like to understand what you are saying.

Oh yeah, I also want to say I LOVE how California does their subforum. Having an event subforum and a toggle seems like a great idea. I like how it looks.

Welp cali and fl are the same by having that toggle feature.

I meant the pattern as in - thread wise. Almost every section has their own local dj promo thread - which we just got.

Both fl & toronto have a chill out style thread - which is where the random talking goes. Cali started it first with prob the boomer+whiskers thread eons ago.

The whole events debate works if you just push for people to actively use it. I know I was one of the first ppl to make the roll call threads in the WMC section.. now thats-a-go. Toronto, it just plainly works cuz they were the first for a long time to have that feature.

I dunno - i don't see all the regions as so different. Atleast in N.America. But maybe its because I know shit loads of people from each section. Europe and stuff I don't go to. I pop into every section every-now-and-then. I'm active in Fl & Ny obviously. + COR and sometimes new releases .. I am active in Tracklists.. I am even active in Sports Discussion! lol The only other girl I see post in there is LeeAnn. I even made it to the SD hall of fame!

ooh and i am sorry - i misread something of urs.. looked over main forums + regional.

It is because of the "main forums" that I can go into the regional forums and be helped out if I ever have a question when I am in town. Of course main + regional are different but actively posting in almost all of them has made me meet some of the coolest mother fukas on the planet I'm a TA Meeting whore - I just want to meet everyone TWICE lol

+1

These threads are starting to make my head hurt.

I was under the impression that the main issue a few months ago was the blatant spamming that was being done by promoters. They would sign up a screen name, and post like 3 events in a row and just take up space on the main page.

I haven't been following all this really, but what do local dj's mixes have to do with that problem?

Either way, TA has definitely been cleaned up of all the clutter. I would like to see some of that old content come back, since it really wasn't part of the problem.

Just more suggestions... that's all it is.

Awesome. I really like the option to keep them in or shut them out. Great stuff. Thanks.

Posted by EnigmaT on Feb-21-2010 04:40:

I think a good solution to all this would be to keep the event forum strictly for promoters who are not active friends that we see out every weekend.

For example, if I decide to start a thread "Great news! Armin is coming on this day" I don't think I should have to worry about not following the guidelines and putting it in the event forum. Now let's say Bradley Rose desides to start the same thread over again strictly to promote the party and his gueslist. Now that should go into the event forum.

Also take everything out of date order and have the listings by posting time order like the regular forum. This way it doesn't take forever to figure out if anything new has been posted.

Sorry, that'll never happen. The purpose of the event forum is to have things sorted by date -- it eliminates thread 'bumping' and keeps things organized.

Posted by euphoria on Feb-22-2010 05:56:

Please continue to post your events in the event sub-forum as "event threads" not regular threads in the main forum. Even though they are now viewable in the main forums when you post them as a regular thread the "hide/view" option does not work properly.

Plus you don't get the option of all the additional event features like the guest list etc. Thanks!
