-- Canadians in Vancouver chant "**** USA FUCK USA FUCK USA FUCK USA"

As for the chant, it's just part of sports. For all we know there was a rival USA USA chant @ some point.(gee, we never hear that kind of cheerleading from our neighbours to the south)

Are the people chanting a bunch of wankers? Yeah, but for Americans to feign offence for something they do with regularity, or for Canadians to apologize for it, is ridiculous. Nobody cares.

Besides, one can say this a direct result of the export of good ol' American values around the world and it's place in pop culture.

Actually, it was the premire of Newfoundland, not the prime minister.

With regard to the chant... terrible. That said, a small group of drunken roudies celebrating a hockey game hardly exemplifies how Canada feels towards the US, or anything other then how a bunch of drunken roudies behave when drunk and roudy.

i didnt make that slapshot goal

therefore, i dont have the right to taunt or call it MY team

you think that chant was bad? wait till you hear how loud it is after Sunday's game......

Posted by Ania_xox on Feb-26-2010 15:15:

Was this before or after our Butch Betties skated all over the US, won gold and started getting drunk on the ice?

Posted by Schadenfreude on Feb-26-2010 15:50:

Americans are so sensitive.

Does it really bother you that much that a handful of drunks starts screaming fuck your country?

Does it really lead you to believe that the whole country shares these feelings, or that they represent the voices of every Canadian? (hummm sounds a little like this Muslim stuff, they are all terrorists you know.)

Do you really think that this is the first time people in another country have screamed "fuck the USA?". Is it really worse than when Americans go to a country that isn't theirs and act like total cocks?

Americans never make fun of the rest of the world (especially not on prime time television), do not have intrusive foreign policies, never interfere in matters that are none of their business and conduct themselves in a way that would make the rest of the world absolutely love them.

fuck the USA.

don't hate the player, hate the game imo.

Indeed, because the true measure of a nation is the symbolic quality of their flag.

Besides, your flag is really just a rip-off of the East India Trading Company jack.

wait why are we still arguing? lets grab our muskets and head for Vancouver!

your flag should really be a dick on a striped background, because that's how most of the world sees it anyways..........

Congratulations on identifying shapes. You may now move on to senior kindergarten.

Actually, the Canadian flag was simply the Union Jack of the UK for a long time. It wasn't until the 60s that it became what it is today. Lester B. Pearson actually risked his political career to fight for a flag that was uniquely Canadian.

I found the quote--

"Under this Flag may our youth find new inspiration for loyalty to Canada; for a patriotism based not on any mean or narrow nationalism, but on the deep and equal pride that all Canadians will feel for every part of this good land."

The red on it represents the Cross of St. George (one of the most celebrated military heroes in Christianity) and the white on it, I believe, is taken from the national emblem of France to symbolize the French/English history of Canada.

and OMG yours is just lines. FUCKING LINES!
and stars... what are you - GAY??

Retard. Pick up a fucking history book.

When I visited montreal I thought to myself this would be a great place to live, except the winters were brutal & there was not a McDonalds on every corner.

Posted by Capitalizt on Feb-26-2010 17:37:

It's a leaf ania.

Understandably people will try to make shit up after the fact to give it some noble meaning and cover up the poor imagination of the inventor..It's still a stupid idea..the same as calling your dollars "loonies".

loonies and a leaf = lols

I can accept the winters, what I can not accept is no McD's or Church's Chicken. It's a fucking shame.

Just a couple of FYIs... There was no official Canadian flag until the Flag Act; however, the UK Union Flag (union jack) was really only used for military uniforms, the Canadian Red Ensign was used for everything official. The use of the red from the St.George cross has less to do with St. George then it does honouring English heritage. The white is taken from the Royal emblem of France, not the national.
