cool thanks, yeah I will be aware of my surroundings and definitely ask the drivers where I need to stop at for sure.
Is there still that flat rate for cabs from MIA to Sobe?
I think it was like $32 or something
Amazing guide. Will be studying this since it's my first time! Thank you very much.
Thanks for taking the time to compile this! Sticky worthy!

Got my 7-day Easy Card in the mail on Friday, took about a week. I emailed them the day after buying it online about whether I could cancel or have it expedited, and they emailed me back a few days later that it had been mailed out. So, I'm ready to go with the transport now!
Oh, one other question: What's the best way to get a taxi in Miami? In NYC, you just put your arm up in the air and one's next to you in seconds. In LA, if you put your arm up in the air, they will probably just wave at you and keep going! I have even attended several 30,000+ people massives here and there were only a handful of taxis afterwards. The key in SoCal is to call and ask for a taxi, then one usually shows up within about 15 minutes.
So, for situations where public transport isn't available or convenient, is it best to call ahead, wave one down on the street, or? I'm not going to Ultra, so would mainly just be in SoBe or coming back from the clubs in Miami.

Originally posted by PatMcGroin awesome... glad the easy card worked out. ![]() regarding the taxis... if you wave a cab down they will stop if they are empty. you're money to them. but if you've leaving ultra for example with the masses, calling ahead isnt going to get you a taxi any faster than trying to wave one down. the best way i think is it try and find a somewhat busy intersection where cabs will drive by but where there arent too many people around. for example, if at 5am you're trying to catch a cab back from south beach to your hotel in downtown, good luck on collins or washington. instead try and head down a block or two to pennsylvania or euclid. many cabs will drive right by but thats because they are full. eventually an empty one should come by and scoop you up. you can also call ahead and tell a cab to come get you, but who knows if itll ever come. doesnt hurt to call though. 305-532-5555 (this is the main miami beach taxi cab company) 305-444-4444 what are some other numbers tas? i forget and google isnt being too helpful right now. |

Anyone know if there is something faster than taking the 1119 or 120 to get to Sunny Isles/Aventura/Hollywood from South Beach?

Pat : the 246 (Night owl) only shows it running around downtown on their site. the 500(midnight owl) is the same also(I know you don't have it listed just figured i'd mention) i'm assuming they changed it this year? I'd hate to hear horror stories of people running up and down collins looking for a bus that will never come lol. By the looks of it looks like there's only one bus(S) that runs SoBe>Downtown 24hrs.? runs collins up lincoln to alton. Or am I missing something here?

Cool thanks Pat. Was told to check out Hollywood for a day - planning on doing that tuesday. Looks like its only 10/15 miles but takes close to an hour with the bus. hurray haha.

Originally posted by PatMcGroin bicentennial park metro mover station is generally closed (i dunno if they plan on opening it for ultra). so you'll have to take the C to the omni bus terminal and get on the metro mover there. and some of those short bus routes on miami beach you could probably just walk. but if you wanted to take the bus then it all sounds right. |

Originally posted by colombian raver Doubt it. I've never seen that station open for any Ultra or ever for that matter. Does anyone know why they closed it? It would be perfect for events bicentennial, or for the museum they're going to build there. Only thing I can think of is that too many bums were getting off there and staying in the park. |
