Actually, probably a better video, since you compared MMA to wrestling....

A quick highlight of 3 of the best / worst slams in MMA history.

I guess it goes without saying that these slams were not rehearsed pre-fight.

MMA is like what wrestling was right before 2000- a hot pop culture product that eventually fades away in popularity.

lol, no.

The fact that the refs didn't stop the fight was insane and fucked up, considering how much damage he took and how fucked up he could have gotten. My point is that Sakuraba fought back from being pretty much unconscious and came back to win that fight. Thats drama man...real, actual, non-fake drama. I know you see shit like that every day in the WWE, but this is not fantasy.

If you don't see entertainment in a fight like that, or the one below, then I guess this is argument is pointless. WWE forever, all the way!

No. MMA is an amazing sport (the most amazing, in my opinion) because it is the most simplistic and the most primal form of competition you can partake in. Its not a game that requires helmets, or balls, or rackets. Its two guys, in a cage, fighting to the death (obviously, refs are there to step in so people don't actually die or get really seriously hurt). It really is a modern day gladiator sport.

Unfortunately, you couldn't be more wrong if you tried. MMA has already eclipsed boxing. 5 years ago or so, the UFC events were pretty much only held in the US. Fast forward to 2010, you can include Canada, Australia, Germany, England, Ireland, Dubai, and soon to be many other places as well. And thats JUST the UFC. There many more organizations in other countriers that have huge followings.

Just to completely settle this argument, here is a list of the top 10 Pay-Per-View Events of 2009. Notice anything? What do you think 2010's ratings will look like? lol

Look...it can be as cool as you want...but you'll never be able to convince me that ground striking/submissions is entertainment.

Anything can surpass boxing these days. Boxing got killed due to absurd PPV prices, lack of notable fighters, and too many worthless belts.

Ok so UFC events are being held overseas...big deal. Ice hockey is played in Australia, so I guess that's really taking off too?

Fair enough. Like I said, if you find pro-wrestling more entertaining, do your thing man. I was big into wrestling for awhile too. Then again, I was in the 3rd grade... To each his own though I guess.

Half of what you say is true. I was a HUGE boxing fan 10 years ago. I got back into MMA about 5 years ago, and I have since completely lost interest in boxing. The same can be said for many ex-boxing enthusiasts. Why watch two guys JUST punch each other, when you can watch two guys punch, kick, knee, elbow, choke, arm bar (etc...) each other? The people in boxing are shitting themselves over MMA, trying to disparage it any chance they get. Its not working.

Boxing did a lot of this to themselves, but MMA put the nail in the coffin.

Are Australian Hockey games filling up the Acer Superdome in Sydney? UFC 110 did, and the card wasn't even that good.

The fact that the UFC dominated PPV buys last year indicates that its a fad? How does that work? The UFC WAS a fad in the 90s when it was billed as a bare-knuckle, no holds-barred event. The fad DID go away, and then exploded back when the UFC launched the first season of "The Ultimate Fighter." To suggest the ensuing 5 years has been a conitnuation of that fad is just, well, not true. Its mainstream, and here to stay.

That slam on Emelianenko is still crazy to watch. I can't believe he turns around and wins that fight after a slam like that.

I actually like Hardy a lot more now...he came off like a bit of a douche leading up to the fight, but the guy has got some heart.

And, really looking forward to the Lesnar - Carwin fight. if anyone can give Brock problems in the UFC right now, its Carwin.

LMAO... of all the videos to post you post TNA videos LMAO..thats some funny stuff. Atleast if your going to try and defend wrestling go back to the ECW early days in the late 90's and early 2000. With barbed wire matchs and thumbtacks. Or even the stuff from Japan with the exploding ring death matches or tanks filled with glass and tacks. But TNA?? TNA???? its un watchable all wrestling. Its getting so bad that all these companys are still using 50 and 60 and even 70 year old wrestlers still. Come on RIC FLAIR and HOGAN still in the game. You cant even compare wrestling to MMA. Why do you think all these wrestlers who have some athletic talent are now moving to MMA. Pro wrestling is a joke and as said once earlier its just pure entertainment and its even to a point now its not entertaining. Its the same old and played out bits they recycle year after year just with diffrent characters.

MMA is the same thing...the same fights over and over.

And TNA of the last few months isn't TNA of the past 6-7 years.

I agree on Hardy...the armbar and kimura had me wincing -- no one can question his heart, that's for sure. If only he bothered to learn a little bit of wrestling.

I can't wait for Lesnar-Carwin...I'll be rooting hard for Carwin, but I'm concerned about his chin (if Lesnar pops him like Gonzaga did, Carwin is going to sleep) and there's no way Carwin will be able to dirty box like he did against Mir.

Because Lesnar is a very experienced wrestler. Notice that Mir never pummeled for underhooks, so Carwin never had to worry about losing control in the clinch and he was free to throw strikes.
