husky.
fuck this dog looks bad ass.

These are some of my favourites. I really would only get big dogs, as small ones are yippy and they shake and their eyeballs look like they are going to pop out. I would like to have them all, but in actuality I'll probably get mutts, because I have had them my whole life and they have always been awesome
english mastiff
rhodesian ridgeback

alaska malmute

siberian husky

yellow lab

old english sheepdog
anatolian shepherd
kuvasz

I have two yellow labs now, Tucker and Georgie and they are amazing
BUT my next dog will either be a Bernese Mountain Dog
Or a Catahoula Leopard Dog

Visit your local OSPCA or shelter! There are so many abandonedand neglected pets there that need a good home. It's the right thing to do.
I just got my cat there the other day and picking him up on Caturday!

No dogs thank you very much.
- German Shepherd
- Husky
My favourite is still this one:

Friggin' high maintenance, though.
Next choice down the list would be a husky or malamute.
My last two dogs have been Shelties. Very intelligent, good knee-high size, very energetic. Here's mine.

I know they're a lot of responsibility and basically like having a child, so it won't be for awhile b/c I can't make the commitment right now. But I CANNOT WAIT until I finally get my Yorkie. |

Boxer
Doberman

My next dog will probably be either a beagle or pug.
Although I would like to get a bulldog Shitzu mix. I could tell people I own a bullshit
you can have a big dog in a condo, but you have to walk him and play with him in a park everyday. And I mean Everyday wind rain or snow. Think about it, if you can live in a condo why can your dog not? As long as it has some place to spend it energy. I plan to enrol my dog in a Shutzhund club, he will learn tracking, taking orders and protection. I plan to take in everywhere with me so he can see new things. I live next to allen park which has a large dog park unlease, so he can have many doggie friends. I plan to wake up at 5:30am and walk him for 45 min before I go to work, come back at lunch and take him out to do his business and walk and play with him for a min 1:30 hours after work.
If I was not willing to put that much effort in this, then I should not get a dog, because it would not be fair to him. This decision is a life choice, he and I are in this together and I think it will be very rewarding.

I take my dog to the dog park almost every day. During the summer we will go for two or three hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
Short answer: Dobe
Long answer:
When I was younger, I dabbled in some junior confirmation handling for some kennels in the states, did some dog sledding, and had a neighborhood dog walking business, so I've had a lot of experience with many different breeds of dog. My parents had a strict rule. No Rotties, No dobes, No pittbulls, No sheperds. Basically no dogs with a bad rep.
The second I moved out I bought a Dobe, Naxton.
Nax, was the perfect dog. I know a lot of owners will say they have the perfect dog, but Nax really was. He was gentle, funny, and obedient to a tee; every one who met this lovable floppy eared goofball instantly fell for him, even people who had said previously that they aren't dog people. He'd listen to anyone who told him what to do, and did it well, but always knew my word came first.
He was bigger than most dobes, and fast as a bullet. We had a light up collar we used to put on him when we let him run in the field at night and it was like a constant wave of light in the distance.
About three weeks ago, Cam and I had to put him down. His stomach flipped. 3 hours, and he was gone. It was hands down, the worst night of my life. He's more than irreplaceable, and any dog would have huge paws to fill.

About 3 days after we put Nax down(and after I'd sworn to myself that I wouldn't get another dog for a while) I got an e mail, from a dobe rescue that I'd signed up for about a year and a half earlier, and never heard from. They e mailed me asking if they could forward my profile along with some others to a private re-home request they'd gotten. I thought about it, and as to not nix my chances for the same opportunity in the future I said yes. Well, it just so happens that the family picked my profile. They sent me a profile for a dobe, with pictures. As soon as I saw them I bawled. He looked so much like Nax, same floppy ears, same curious look, and similar long face. After reading through the profile, at the bottom it had his name. His name was Max.
I picked him up that Sunday, and haven't looked back. He's a great dog; he's very affectionate but has the attention span of a goldfish. He needs a lot of work, as he's had zero training, but he's eager to learn and I think he'll get there eventually (ok, maybe not all the way there, but close) He's not Nax, but he's growing on me.
We renamed him Axel, Max was a little bit too close to home.

Sorry for the novel. Enjoy.
this thread made me want a dog even more then usual
I'm so tired of stupid cats
ugh! first thing I do when I move out to live on my own - look into getting a puppy!
Cats aren't all bad Kris. Get a Siamese, they're dog like.
