My first experience at beb and let me tell you, simply amazing best night of my life ... will be back next year for sure. Arrived early to ensure early entry as was recommended went smooth, pretty impressed how fast we got in considering the amount of ppl walking through the doors, no complaints Sander van doorn never seems to fail me, myself along with my buddies never left the tech room during his set, he just dropped one sick track after another for the most part Ferry dissapointed me AGAIN saw him in edmonton a couple months back and was just terrible and i mean in a cheesy way, i didnt even catch much of his set everytime i gave it a shot i felt he was just ruining the vibe. Best song he played hands down .. radio crash haha we bolted in, besides that we pretty much spent our time relaxing in the hallways during the 3 hour fluff watching the scene walk by definitly an open environment....................lol but was expected. Markus schulz BEST SET OF THE NIGHT i give him a A+ those bass lines and drops ... we danced hard for a good 2 1/2 hours before we had to head back to the halways. Sied van riel, just what i wanted to hear the last 2 hours of the rave good hard dirty drops to keep the crowd there as much as possible, i would have gave him the crown for set of the night if markus didnt steal the show. Till next year peace out montreal f**king love this place and its parties, oh ya and how could i forget ... godkitchen boombox was spectacular speechless to say the least i recommend everyraver to see it for themselves.

Yup, of course!!! Everyone else but 4 of us left and I couldn't comprehend leaving for him. He was RIDICULOUS! Even better than Markus!

I went to check him out and couldn't stay for longer than 2 minutes. BOOOOOOOORINGGGGGGG! He was playing some weird not-electro-but-sounded-electro-ey track. I think i'll wait to check him out properly at Fly, since there's no way I would have enjoyed his set anyways knowing I was missing Sied van Riel.

So, my review:

This was my first Bal en Blanc AND my first massive party. Had a nice dinner out at a tasty Portuguese restaurant (mmmm Sangria). After a quick white outfit photo shoot at Nada's hotel (which I'm still positive designed their bathroom to be convenient for a porno), we headed over. God bless VIP, b/c woosh, we were in immediately! I was expecting to be amazed as soon as I walked in, but I think because it wasn't rammed yet I didn't fully get the big room vibe. The openers in the trance room were really good. The house room was average at this time. Watching the videos on the backdrop was more entertaining to me than the music. So I gave up and decided to go see Infected Mushroom for the first time......and actually got some enjoyment out of it! I like old school metal (well used to be more into it) so I enjoyed hearing some fun guitar riffs. I would never pay money to see these guys on their own, but it was interesting to see for a little while! They definitely can do without their vocalist though, wow he has an annoying voice. Spent most of my time around now checking my watch and thinking "almost1amalmost1amsandervandoorn". And then the moment finally arrived...........and I was.......disappointed. I highly dislike saying ANYTHING bad about Sander EVER but lord can you say no set flow. He started out with Daisy and played hard techy goodness for the first 5 tracks or so. But every so often he'd throw in some track with either an awkward vocal or a track that just didn't belong. I really hope he doesn't play like this in May (I have faith in him though, he'll be amazing in Toronto ). Not that it was a bad set, it was just mediocre (especially considering what this guy is capable of). I honestly found myself thinking at this point that Bal en blanc was an average party. Up until the end of Sander's set I was having pretty much just as much fun as an average night at the Guvernment.

So now it's time for Ferry. I was expecting him to throw down a really good set (I was actually expecting his to be the best set of the night) but he still managed to exceed my expectations by INFINITY. He played one of the best sets I've ever experienced live. By this point the party was in serious action. I moved from standing at the front for Sander to somewhat further back in the crowd, since I wanted to get the full massive event experience (I can stand at the front and jam at the Guv any weekend). Being back there with friends, watching the party go off with everyone's hands in the air, and listening to Ferry rip us to shreds was just something incomparable to the regular weekend partying we're all used to. By halfway through Ferry's set, he had everyone eating out of his hands. He played seriously uplifting and driving tunes. This was TRANCE trance. A lot of classics. I think I lost a good chunk of my brain when Ligaya - Gouryella came on. WOOOOOOWOWOWOWOWOW! I have never heard that track in a club before and it's easily one of the best classics in my opinion. SERIOUS EPICNESS. Hearing Synaesthesia right after this was another WOW. Too much to handle. I won't even try to attempt at describing the experience of his set anymore, but basically, best set of Bal en Blanc 2010.

Markus Schulz came on after, and started out fairly dark (mmmmmmmm). I honestly felt pretty bad for the guy, because how the hell do you even attempt at following Ferry's set. But Markus Schulz playing a bad set is non-existent so he was in the clear. This wasn't the best I've ever seen him, but he played an amazing set with a few surprises for us! Lots of dark chuggy prog trance (my favourite Markus Schulz ), as well as a few unexpeceted tracks! Nothing At All mashed up with For An Angel (WTF, he never plays that!), Nothing But You (not sure what remix, but whoa). Yes, he did play the Perspective Space but it was mashed up with Sweet Dreams as Vince said. Everyone was sitting in the hall during this moment, suckers. Overall, solid set from Markus as per usual. Will be a true shame if the rumours of him retiring next year are true.

So, now it's 10 am...the crowd has started thinning and there's beautiful sunshine flowing in through the windows in the convention centre hallway. Most of our crew left at this point and it actually surprised me that people were leaving. I thought there was like a rule that you had to stay until noon when the party ended, I honestly didn't even consider it an option to leave early (I guess 10 am really isn't all that early though...). Sied comes on, and after seeing him play at Vola last year, I knew we were in for a treat. But I DIDN'T know that we were going to be treated to the equivalent of a really expensive creme brulee. Sied was ON FIRE!!!!! He was HARD, FAST, BANGING, TECH TRANCE. Fucking relentless. His set was tune after tune after tune after tune, most of which I can't ID (damn I love it when this happens! ). At noon exactly, the lights flipped on, such a sad moment) and Sied just wouldn't stop. I walked out from his set with my mouth hanging open. Wow.

Overall, this weekend gets a huge WOW from me. Bal en Blanc was just incredible. As I said I wasn't completely feeling the party at first, but all those doubts were just blown out of the water by Ferry Corsten. First ASOT and now this? I've said it before and I'll say it again....what is my life?! <3

Random thoughts and hilights:

- finding white shoes was a pain...literally, the flats I bought gave me a serious blister (thank youuuuu paramedics and your bandaids!!)
- i love trance even more than I did before.
- loved that they had a sketchy raver shopping area...the baby soothers were kind of overpriced though IMO
- paying the extra money for VIP was worth it simply for chilling right around where Sander was before his set...and then finally getting a nice not-covered-in-sweat-from-jumping picture with him before his set started <3
- Oz's photo shoot with the balloons he stole, right in the middle of the dance floor
- Ferry Corsten is god
- Sied is an absolute monster
- so now I've been interviewed twice in one weekend...some random radio station news guy came up to us after the event around the convention centre and asked me a couple of questions about how I enjoyed the event. Thank god this one wasn't video taped and I didn't have to give a name.
- Jay Leno has been successfully converted from a house-head to a trance-head
- Sander, please don't ever disappoint me like that again.
- I highly approve of the boombox. Whoa was it ever serious! To get the full experience you really had to stand further back though, when I was at the front I found it to be nothing all the special. Some of what was being projected onto it was insane.
- damn I should have gone for a massage!
- so much less sketch partying in Montreal...but it's still there if you look closely
- final thought: I would be sad that this weekend is over.....except there is just soooo much more coming!!!!!! I love Toronto (and Montreal) 2010!

I had a good time at this year's BeB, compare to last year's this one was huge in term of music, setup, coordination, etc.

Before leaving I checked out Morales, he was good indeed, but I think there was something wrong with the sound system, I didn't feel the bass AT ALL.

Glad I made the trip to Montreal for Bal en Blanc with the Asian Hooker!

Boom Box was simply AMAZING!

I wish I could remember anything past 8AM or so on? I don't remember how I got back to the hotel room.

Last few things I can remember is talking with Ferry while eating a pineapple and running around with a bunch of Spongebob square pants balloons lol

Also meeting Guetta was hilarious. "Wholly shit I didn't know I have an older son" in a funny French accent lol

Guetta @ the House Stage

EPIC weekend in Montreal!

Lol Oz, your drinks were actually like pure vodka, especially that blue one yechhhhh! I'm excited for kotsy's pictures of you and spongebob.

Being my first time partying in MTL, my first trance party and my first massive, the whole night was very overwhelmingin the best way possible!

After debating with myself all week if I should go, I bought my ticket at 3pm on Sunday and off I went! Got to the venue at 9:45pm and the first thing I noticed was how into the white theme everyone was. I have never seen an event where 99% of the people went all out on their costume. Some of the costumes were very entertaining to say the least. I somehow managed to pass by the hour long line to get my ticket and only waited for about 20 minutes to get searched. While I was waiting for people to arrive, I walked around the building and I could not believe how big the place was! It was a nice change from partying in small clubs all the time. I met up with Tara and Jill and we went over to the house room. The music was decent to start and then went to shit. We spent the next hour trying to meet up with people, which was a challenge at times due to the sheer size and amount of people that had arrived.

I headed over to the trance room around 12:45 and caught the end of Infected Mushroom. It was interesting and fun for a short amount of time, but 15 minutes was definitely enough. And then SvD. I was excited to hear him since so many people really love him, but he was very disappointing. There were a few good songs here and there, but overall I really disliked it and I was surprised I last an hour listening to him. Went over to catch Guetta and he wasnt really doing it for me. I got to hear The World is Mine which brought me back a few years, but overall he was mediocre.

After sitting down for a bit, I headed back for Ferrys set. Being 4am and not hearing any good music yet was a little disappointing and I was starting to question why I came. I have also heard from a ton of people that Ferry is always amazing, so I had VERY high expectations from him. And WOW! He was far better than I could ever imagine. He played one of the best sets I have ever heard live. I couldnt believe what I was hearing and how the music was still getting better and better as his set progressed. Ferry FUCKING Corsten! I was told about halfway through his set to come to the back because the visuals were better (thank you Veronica!). I didnt really understand until I went back and saw the full effect of the boombox. Absolutely unreal. It was so memorizing to watch and really enhanced the experience. A very unexpected addition to my Bal en Blanc.

After Ferry finished I felt completely satisfied and didnt even care if I saw anymore DJs. I tried to give Markus a chance but really couldnt get into it. After listening to the beginning of his set again today, he was better than I remember, but Ferry ruined it for me. I spent the next hour sitting and then decided it was time to see if I could enjoy the music again. The last half of his set was amazing and I didnt want him to stop.

Until Sied van Riel came on. Holy shit. This guy is serious business Lol! He absolutely destroyed the place. I love that at 10am he was playing so hard and fast, exactly what I needed to finish out the morning. Props to the final four who closed the place out .

Overall, such an epic night. It was awesome partying with so many TOTAs. And why have I not been listening to trance before? Jumping around craziness FTW! I love my trance life! Haha. Montreal is such an amazing city and I cant wait to go back. After such a great night, having the car ride home be absolute hilariousness just topped it off. I dont know if I have ever laughed that much. Sorry Jill!

FERRY F'IN CORSTEN SAVED MY NIGHT!!!!!!!!!

This was possibly one of his best sets since like (avalon and aria sets) seriously up therE!!!! and THE BOOMBOX added to the entire experience

BEB you guys did a great job organizing the entry etc this year..washrooms in VIP were a Fail again but we knew better and used the ones outside in the hallway....

Malek great seeing you

I'm going to buy a 16GB memory card so that I can hang my camera around my neck and video document my nights that involve heavy drinking...

No, at around 11:15 he was chilling(slash passing out) at the VIP tables and I was with him for awhile, but I needed to be in my dancing space for SvR's set. I went back to check on him and he had disappeared. I can't even imagine how entertaining he was for you guys at the hotel!
PS. I was totally going to find you again for a high five during Sander. Dammit!
