| Originally posted by Skipper I had perscription ray bans done last year, and they are perfect for biking. Then I left set them down on a bed in a hotel I was staying at last year and they got, ahem, a bit crushed. But then my optometrist bent them back and put the frames back in (which hadn't broken!) Magic! Sometimes high quality shades do pay off. |
Carrera's I find are the best..
second hand i would say is the way to go, hopefully with no sctaches...

100 bucks is asking too much, i would offer this guy maybe 65
The idea of looking for what was originally asked seems pretty redundant. Good quality ones that don't cost too much?
You can't really complain if you limit yourself to $50-100. You can find decent ones in the price range at sunglass hut, wal-mart or if you are the side of some shack on vacation or inside a mall.
I do not mean, good designer glasses are the only way to go, but if you want decent ones for cheap just pick on at one of those spots on queen or yonge st. dont expect it to be polarized, or uv coated all the time, but if you want cheapies then go with those. OR you can be more carefuly if you are at a party.
i have (had) tons of designer glasses (ive bought one every year the past 10 years) and I am always careful when I wear them to parties. Sure they bend or deform, but for the most part im careful.... that is... until ive lost two pairs which i loved very dearly.
the idea of having sunglasses to me are like having a child. ive worn them to parties, driving, taken photos, they are a part of me and my social or daily life. and since i lost those two.... they've been devastating. yes it seems ridiculous... but when you grow an attachment to them its difficult to cope lol..

like I told Rob - The Bay has a fairly decent (mostly ladies') selection of shades
I just picked up a funky pair of 9 West for $46
and TONS of the style Rob is looking for - mostly at Guess stand, $65
I think that's pretty decent for glasses used for partying/cruises/etc
I actually bought a great pair of shades for myself for 60$ at Fossil.
I love them... you may have some luck there too.
I have Raybans as well, only kind that fit my slim face.
I want some with a thicker/more sturdy frame though as the ones I have don't hold up after a year or so of use. They still fit my face, just the way they do is a bit loose it that makes sense.

Skate/surf shops are also a great place to find stylish cheapie sunglasses. Obviously not talking about the Spy Optics case.
Anybody know a machinist who can make some new table legs???
Is anybody interested I genuine aviators???
The real deal and not the fashionista styles...

I ended up finding the Ray Bans I wanted at a small store on king near Yonge. I went to Bay, sun glass hut, lens crafters, the place on front and Jarvis, and a few others trying to find the best price on the pair I wanted. They were all 150ish. This place gave me 30% off cause they were the last pair and were scratched a bit on the arm.
No biggie. I'm over my 100 dollar budget, but not by much, and I'm happy again!

'Grats on the purchase, Rob. I'm happy you liked my suggestion! Ray Bans ftw.
