-- Video of SWAT Raid on Missouri Family, kill family dog

It's even worse to think that when the SWAT arrest a man for a little bit of pot and a pipe, one of the main points is that the dog died.

Not to be an asshole (although most will think I am), but it's just a dog. It's not like he killed person a or anything, killing a dog is almost negligible when you consider that the SWAT team broke into his house, frightened his family, and possibly traumatized the child, all for some pot.

Just saying that the fact the dog died is a trifling matter at best. I have had a dog before so I'm not just talking out of ignorance but, if I was in that situation the last thing that would concern me is the dog. That guy cried when his dog died but he really should have been crying at the fact that his family (particularly his seven year old son) experienced a completely unnecessary act of police recklessness.

He was obviously under a lot of stress and was trying to keep it together for the sake of his family. Then a member of his family (human or not) is fucking killed and that was the straw that broke the horse's back. Seems reasonable to me.

THEY KILLED A CORGI!? FUCKING ASSHOLES. I HOPE SOMEONE SHOOTS THEIR DOGS!

CORGIS FUCKING KICK ASS!

Posted by Joss Weatherby on May-08-2010 02:36:

Ugh this just makes me sick. What is it going to do? Bite their shins? I have had corgis my entire life, they are protective of their territory (they are herding dogs) but they are basically harmless... WTF.

I seriously hope someone kills theses officers dogs in front of their family (as long as they aren't corgis).

Fuck.

I suppose you're right, in that situation it's no wonder the guy reacted the way he did when he heard his dog was dead. Even so, I think that the first two pages of this thread should have been a little more about the people and less about the dog.

I'll never become hardened to the whimpers/cries of a dying animal.

Posted by Joss Weatherby on May-08-2010 02:44:

Oh, they didn't kill the corgi, it was just shot in the leg (WOW GOOD SHOT, THEY HAVE TINY LEGS).

A pitbull was killed, thats fine. Pitbulls are horrible horrible dogs.

Ya, I've seen dead people, in real life, and videos on the internet, I have seen videos of dying people. Its not the same as a pet. People are generally able to help themselves, but dogs are dependent on people.

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on May-08-2010 21:38:

i think the article clearly states that they shot and killed the pitbull. The corgis was only shot in the leg.

Regardless dogs are dogs whether its cute or not, these guys were out of line.

lol.. if i saw that id fucking shoot it. Its either him or you.

this is the result of a pitbull attack:

NSFW.

anyways they were heavily suited, didnt need to shoot the dogs. Police should carry tranquilizer guns or something in events like this. You can't just go in and kill someones pet. Its like their kid.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Pits are awesome dogs..probably one of the nicest and playful species there is. They are very loyal but are not violent unless trained to be so.

obviously, but if you are invading someones house and they are trained as guard dogs.. you're going to get fucked up pretty bad.

HEY! Everyone! They didn't kill the corgi, if anyone bothered to read the article. They killed the pitbull.

A second dog was shot in the leg but was not killed. The corgi is seen in the video and does not appear to be wounded. There is no indication when the dog was shot, and Dresner previously said he was unsure when the animal was wounded.

I was so pissed when I saw this that I wanted the bastards tortured and thrown in prison. Poor dogs, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE A TAZER FOR IF YOU DON'T FUCKING USE IT?!?!?!

Edit: oops you guys figured that out already.

Edit 2: not to mention the guy had like an eighth of weed and a pipe. Big fucking deal, I hate the fucking war on drugs.

exactly they are wearing body armor.

To be fair, they shot and killed a pit bull and only injured the corgi. If I was a police officer raiding a suspected drug dealer's house, and a pit was barking at me (possibly attacking? i dunno), i'd probably shoot it too. Pits are fucking scary

I really fail to see how putting a harmless pothead with a wife, a kid, and a corgi in prison is making our streets safer.

You have other methods of stopping an attacking dog (this dog was not attacking), such as a taser or a tranquilizer. Not your fucking gun with your fucking bullets. That's absolutely horrendous and inhumane for them to shoot a dog while they are in no danger.

Posted by jonSun on May-09-2010 00:53:

More importantly than only the dogs getting shot. The dogs got shot in front of the 7 year old boy.

Posted by david.michael on May-09-2010 01:02:

This is fucking ridiculous. Shit like this makes me think N.W.A. had it right.

I agree with you 100%. Just looking from the cop's perspective. How many times do you think they've been attacked or been told to be attacked by a drug dealer's dog? Most likely a pit of some kind.

There's no doubt that there are dangerous dogs owned by drug dealers out there. However, they need to try to be less trigger-happy and more aware of the environment they are entering. Did they not spy on this dude a little bit, you know, did they observe firearms or dangerous activity in the household? It's like they just busted in this guy's house while he was in his pajamas and his son was in bed. These people need to have their badges stripped for piss-poor police work.

Fucking awful police work.

Posted by ziptnf on May-09-2010 01:39:

In general, I believe that people who engage in animal brutality should face the exact same punishment that they gave to an undeserving, harmless creature. Even if the dog was told to attack, it's not his fault, he just was obeying his master. Makes me so sad, animals never deserve some of the things that happen to them.
