A multi-layer loop player would be good. So you can grab a loop with hihat, percussion, clap etc, and drop the individual bits in and out, rather than having just the complete loop to work with. It'll be a shame if this new player only toggles between the eight loops rather than letting users play them simultaneously.

Yeah, can't imagine that ableton would need it that much, but at the moment I just can't see an ongoing market for a program as limited as Reason. No audio? In the second decade of the 21st century, I think they've fallen behind the 8 ball a bit on this one.

Posted by evo8 on May-26-2010 14:59:

^^^ but havent people been saying that for years? no audio editing, no vsts etc
yet its still here and people still use it, personally i think rewire is what keeps it in the game

i was actually thinking of buying it for my laptop for sketching out ideas, i like the look of that Blocks feature...

Posted by Zak McKracken on May-26-2010 15:14:

its still here because its a great creative app. and u dont need anything else. but the point of upgrading is fading away imo as they dont really change anything important.

Posted by tehlord on May-26-2010 15:33:

The killer app for a Reason update would be a new Rewire bridge of some sort. A Reason 'VST' multi output plugin would be awesome.

That's not a bad idea. I feel bad about upgrading to Suite 7 because all of the instruments suck, except for Operator and Sampler. Operator is okay, but Sampler is really the only indispensable one. All of those instrument modeling instruments suck. I wish they would just trash them already.

The new update is a pitch corrector/vocoder type of thing for Record 1.5.

Not really. Its user base has gone through the floor. So many less posts about it these days then two years ago.

I already Rewire Ableton with Cubase. That would just make things difficult.

Or you can just get FL.

Yeah I'm done with Reason, switching to Logic

Posted by Lolo on May-28-2010 04:37:

still a fan after all the years here. I don't know why people keep saying bad things about reason. It's outdated for some things, but still competition has to come up with some semi-modular synth that's half of what thor is in some aspects. And at least it's rock solid. I've been through several buggy versions of live and had to explain that to my students... same goes for logic!

but of course in terms of audio reason's outdated.

Indeed, like anything out the it has its pro's and con's. I for one will still use it along side my new choice as I still like using some of its devices and know how to get what I want from it, for now.

I think most people that are already using it hate the lack of speed with the updated versions they release in terms of new stuff, maybe? Who knows anyway. Gonna go see what else the website has to show thats new in R5.

The Kong looks cool

Anyone wants to buy a Record license from me?

Yeah I've been using a MacBook Pro for all my Reason projects for the last few months, and man oh man is it ever fast. I used to max Reason out on my pcs with too many Thors and automation but I can't even get close to maxing out on a Mac. Anyway after watching the "In the Studio" with Sean Tyas, and another one with Steve Angelo I realized I want to use Logic. Plus almost everyone I know is using Logic so I'm sure I can get lots of support when I need it.

Now having said that the Kong does look pretty cool, and I have been wanting to make my own kicks because I can never seem to find the right sample in the key that I want...

Logic is a good choice. I too will be moving to logic once i get a mac. Ive used it several times and its great compared to ther programs ive used. Many people have also recommended it over the years and they were right. Good to hear your not maxing out your tracks anymore though.

Kong looks like fun though, that coupled with record's new mixer lots of fun there.

Mac does not equal faster than pc..
Ur pcs probably had lower specs

I will upgrade here. As a production tutor, Reason is still a great piece of kit.
