It's just like any dj, everyone hears mixes/productions of them that are banging and when they see them live they expect to the roof to be blown but there def are off nights or the dj isn't even in the mood to be throwing down.. Fanciulli at Footy and Joris Voorn at Cobra are prime examples of this

I wasn't there for them but if lawler lovers were bored by them then they didn't do a good job opening clearly

Damn, wish I had seen him on skybar! Lawler on skybar >>> Lawler in main room, for me anyways! I'm sure he'll be back soon!
Fun night. Guv main room was ridiculously packed last night.. plenty of sketchy characters as other TAs mentioned before.. some of which I found amusing at times. There were also plenty of down to earth people.. which made the sketch / ghetto factor a lot more bearable. I didn't stay too long in the Gallery.. Went there for 20 minutes or so but the beats were way too Zone like. Skybar was my favourite spot of the night. Plenty of space to dance, great weather, and the crowd was pretty chilled out. Did anyone notice all those doves flying over Guv throughout the night?
Lawler's main room set was a little boring.. His choice of minimal tech-house tracks sounded very subdued and repetitive at times. Don't get me wrong I appreciate good minimal music.. when it has more character / texture to it that is.. not the generic sounds. Maybe it's because we hear too much of this stuff everywhere in Toronto.. I enjoyed the more retro tracks he was dropping.. Like 'The Secret' by Joris Voorn. It was disappointing to not hear too many of those grungy techy tracks he usually drops towards the end of his sets. Mark Oliver was pretty alright (from what I saw).. he knows what type of sound gets the main room moving. Surprisingly, I enjoyed his set more than Lawler's main room set. However, Steve's sunrise set was pretty solid.. stayed there until it finished. Good Lawleresque selection of tracks.

noticed some of the crowd were pretty rude as well... the pushiness is understandable because guv gets busy but at least say sorry..
and to those of you who ignore people who say "excuse me" and don't get out of their way just because you think you're tough, Fuck You. excuse my French.

After a wild night of sleazy beats at Stereo on Friday.... regardless of how tired I was... I was ready and needed more Steve Lawler. I loved his intro... made me get that dark grimy Lights out feeling once again to get things going. Then, Lawler drops his typical big room base beat.... carried that through... slowed it down, creeped up the build... gradually picked up the tempo, in comes a bit of that sweet Lawler tribal infusion, the crowd erupts as the beat just drops again, and we were off... to me it kind of felt like a smooth transition from Stereo the night before. Then for the last hour he kind of went up and down, but he didnt quite lose me. Until, in the last 15-20 minutes, he plays that weird sounding electro song (which is near the end of the Ibiza Opening set). Buzz kill. Everyone around me kind of didnt know what to think. He tried to pick it up a bit again after that, but I had given up then. The song was so out of place (much how I feel about it in the Ibiza set as well). He finished it off at 4 (2 hours, meh... glad I got the four the night before). Off to the Skybar we went. Based on the past two years I wasnt quite sure what to expect.....
Enjoyed the bounciness of Darius & Nyra much better then what they played in the main room. Then Steve slides on to the decks, with a huge smile on his face, reading to deliver the goods. With a groovy start to his set, the sound was quite low... started to get a bit worried that it would be like the couple years past. A few songs in, the tempo is picking up, sun is rising, build up... bam. Crank up the volume.... Skybar Lawler was back and he didnt let up. Sexy bouncy beats, A-game Lawler day time styles. Every so often he dropped a bit of that winding sleazy sound that goes so well with the unique vibe of a proper sunrise morning outdoor party. The Skybar was not packed as it usually is (Thank you for keeping this party off of Canada Day). So much more bearable than in the past. In no means will I ever up the legendary Sasha/Lawler Skybar set in 2005; but I will say that I havent enjoyed the music as much upstairs since that glorious morning. (2007 was also a good one).
Lawler was loving it... feeding the crowd what they wanted to hear, getting the reception he wanted, so he continued down the path of daytime Lawler delightfulness. Sunrise session 2010 truly made up for the sour taste that was left in my mouth at the conclusion of his set in the main room.
As mentioned previously, Lawler is not for everyone. You love him or hate him. This past weekends Lawler marathon proves to me why I will always continue to support him.
The CD was great.... Respect for putting that together.

It was given freely as a promo wasn't it? I think that allows it exemption from copyright, although I could be wrong.
