Firstly I'm no expert in upligting, and I have much to learn, so keep this in mind about me.

It for me it lacks a clearly defined memorable personality, which may in it'self not be a problem for other people.

I can hear you have a good sense of musicality which as Cryo says is critical.

It's perplexing to me that Coldblue can make a banger like the one wuth no actual lead - just pads - which was the closing track on anjunabeats last albumn - I think the track mihgt be called 'Downhill', which gets away without a classic lead hook - I cannot explain yet how he pulls it off.

Don't you mean Coldblue - 30 Degrees At Midnight?

lol

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm not sure what's causing the mixing problems. Not much in the track is compressed much in the song and I did a good bit of EQ cutting in the lower frequencies to get rid of the muddiness.. maybe there's just too much going on for someone with my amount of experience to get away with. I guess I can try toning it down next time around but as far as this track is concerned there's not really anything else I can do. I don't think the mixdown is horrible, there might be a few issues you guys are mentioning but I can't imagine the track is actually suffering for it.

I know I was asking for advice to fix this track but I think it'd be better if I just applied this criticism to my future works.

So you decide to keep it as it is or what? I'm gladly willing to help out with some melodic stuff if my tiny tiny experience can help, the track is really really good, I only wish the melodic part had a slightly different character. It's not much left before it's a monsterhit. With the EQ'ing I can only suggest to use more oZone

Eh?

Only for a spot of mastering EQ if you feel you need it surely!

It was just a joke, Im really no mastering guru :P

No, are you stupid :P, its called "Katabatic Rush", classic uplifting track, just as you like it

not bad...sounds like something my little cousin would do. Hes 19 and does some decent trance for an amateur.

Kysora...i'm guessing you use Fruity Loops?

What gave it away?

Posted by cryophonik on Aug-13-2010 21:39:

What's up with all the personal insults? Kysora just asked for some honest feedback on his track, not a public belittling. Is it that hard to offer constructive criticism and advice without the insults, particularly considering that he's one of the more helpful and considerate contributors around here?

was thinking the same thing a guy makes a perfectly good track and people are hatin i think the only minor problems with it was addressed in previous posts.

Well thanks, I'm glad some people actually notice me around here. I'm not really sure why some of the comments have had the tone they've had.. I would think other musicians would at least acknowledge and respect the fact that I'm trying to further myself as a musician. It's not like I post long winding rants on what I'm incapable of doing or spend all day bitching about the music industry or anything, I'm just trying to make music and figure people with more experience could give me some insight if they'd care enough to share it. That's hardly disruptive, especially considering half the shit that gets discussed here.

But, whatever, I'm not new to getting my work critiqued online so I'm used to filtering that out and just taking the actual advice at heart, so those of you that actually tried to help me out, I appreciate it. Most of the posts have been like that actually, this wasn't too terrible. Especially Morvan, he offered to take a look at the source files and try adding compression, fixing the leveling and adding other elements to fix it. Totally didn't expect that.

People like alanzo, though, I dunno. I respect the guy, but those were some odd comments.

Im listening on my big living room speakers, and it sounds great here. I like this kind of stuff,
so this is going on my playlist I dont have anything good to show for, but I feel the main hook
could be a bit stronger.. Have it stand out more. Anyway, I enjoyed it

btw: Some guys here need to have their attitude checked. Makes me wonder sometimes why I
even bother coming back to this place.

I've found some of his comments highly offensive in the past, whether directed at me or others.

Alanzo - you're great at producing, but it seems every now and then you totally wake up on the wrong side of the bed and take it out on others!
