The Melbourne Shuffles have always astounded me, pressing me to learn the next time I get some really neat flat shoes and Johnson's & Baby Powder.

My friends around me back home in Singapore captured this sort of dancing to Zouk. However, some find it stupid or what-not. I personally love the way people in Melbourne party, dancing should be what music is all about. Visual dancing is what I call the shuffles.

Here in Toronto, away with the raves and huge gatherings, you walk into a club and hardly people dance. If they are, they are either not fully clothed or screaming of the twaty MCs....

Dancing is a compliment of Music. A good shuffle you're able to pull off, there you flow with the soul of the tunes...

Can someone with at least 3-4 years experience of shuffling do up one Writing? The sequencing is what's hard.....

Not too mention, you guys get the best artificial stimulants too!

Dancing Dude

That's some really cool shit. I didn't know you Aussies could dance. Now mix it with some breakin and liquid style.

Monkey Dancer 2

that looks really cool!

mind you, it's probably harder to do with melodic trance... I reckin' it's better with techno

Sneaker Pimp Beginers guide to shufflin'

You kinda swivel the foot that's on the ground, on the ball or heel. The other foot kinda moves side to side (out then in again), or up and down or even back and forth - to counterbalance the swivelling. The most common hand movement looks somewhat like a librarian trying to sort books on a shelf, while having an epileptic fit. If you wanna learn just watch the video and try to copy it... starting out with socks on a polished floor might be an idea.

woah! that's some wicked dancing there! i'm gonna try learn it. i've picked up cali-steppin' styles, toronto-dnb-spin styles, but this shuffle looks the most fun of all. and it looks like u could do it all nite long..(us non-e-tards get kinda tired jumpin' around for too long. )

Posted by discitelli on Jul-28-2002 05:20:

i don't think the melbourne shuffle can be learnt by reading a book or watching a stream over and over again. You just gotta get out there and have a go.......experiance is the key. You have to have the guts to try and also be willing to embarress yourself. we aussies strongly believe is "a fair go", so even if you do make a fool out of yourself its all in good taste, i'm sure its the same formost clubs around the world

http://www.melbourneshuffle.tk/

There is some good info there, including the DJs that were spinning at the club.......

I'm curious as to who the original artits/track names spun in that vid were as well......

The shuffle can be applied to any genre, from techno to trance to breaks to prog.

Its all good.

Posted by discitelli on Jul-29-2002 06:00:

hey im not a big fan of techno, but the tunes in this clip are wicked! can somebody please id em, even one of em?

Posted by Pointy on Jul-29-2002 08:11:

The music sounds alot like the Wetmusik gurus, Will n Digby, but i dunno

Cool style, saw it a lot when me and my mate went to Melbourne Uni to break/liquid. Pretty easy to pick up, main thing is to not be self-conscious.

Ciao
