Absence? Hey hey we norteoafrocuban prog minions are still here. We just don't sign on as much i'd say.
First time i've been on in about a month or more. Although i do agree with you in context of this room not being as interesting as it was back in the day. Around '06 i'd say.

I miss those days and I'm sure we'll never see that again...

The same plague that commercialized trance is slowly but surely eating away at prog house. Heck it's been eating away at it for a while.
My theory is that it'll slowly take over other genres of EDM in this order = House, Tech house.....and once it reaches Techno the Detroit elitests will put an end to it by some how inventing another subgenre that will take it back to the roots of stuff. No commercialism and only 5-10 people will know about it. Everything will be put on vinyl and it'll be spread by word of mouth. This will then spawn a rebirth of everything.
But then again that's just my uninspired timeline of the next 15 years. If the stuff continues to exist that is.
But in all seriousness i think one of the problems with the scene is that overall it seems to look to it's past to much for inspiration. Back in the day more producers seemed to look forward and try and do something new as opposed to trying to rehatch new versions of the same tried and tested things.

That was ALMOST a coherent and worthwhile post. At least it's a step up from anything Lizandro has ever posted, so I guess I'll respond.

1. Prog everything is dead. Prog house, prog rock, prog thinking. "It was an ugly tree, anyway. At least it's out of its misery."

2. House, and then Techno will be the last two genres to fully get hit, since they're the two most dissimilar to previously exploited 'genres,' sharing less in common in terms of speed, nature and frequency of sampling, rhythm, and general composition. Tech-house is already getting butchered by the same people who, unlike some people here, grew out of prog house over the past few years.

3. 'Underground' is already back. My only real gripe with it is the aforementioned obsession with vinyl, since, as someone who has a single hi-fi turntable, for listening purposes only, I have a selfish reason to want everything available digitally. If you don't know that this is already happening (and has been for a while), it really doesn't take much more than getting out of your houses and TXTA.

Do any of the old school TA's recall reading this conversation more than a couple dozen times?

lol that was the poorest attempt of humor in the history of txta.

I guess that 'your mom' jokes are only up to your standards when they come out of nowhere, with no bearing or play on previous posts, like cravings for bananas out of the mouth of an autistic kid who just pissed himself. Go, Team!
