Looking for production. You will be judging people's sound design including drums synths leads bass . , production technique, artistic use of effects including EQ , compression , delay ..
And we get to deliver the tracks anonymously so there is no bias going on right ?

I have to admit im a bit excited by this contest of yours, Chad.

I'd be happy to do it!

yup everything is anonymous. Well I will know I suppose but I honestly hate you all equally and my say doesn't count any more than the other judges.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Sep-07-2010 15:27:

where do the music come from and where do the money come from?

this reminds me of the southpark episode:

1. steal underwear
2. ???
3. profit

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Sep-07-2010 15:28:

Money comes from me. The music comes from the people entering the contest. It really is quite simple. There are no tricks or strings attached, You win, you get the money and the rights to your song to do whatever you want with it. You can name it what ever you want and you don't have to mention where the melodic content came from.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Sep-07-2010 17:18:

so u need both songs and judges or are the tracks already submitted from another place? i can judge on composition (well this is a edm-contest?). i dont need no money lol and i dont have time (or skill) to make anything that fast anyway so i would have lost.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Sep-07-2010 17:22:

the competition hasn't started. I've found all the judges I need. The contest will last around a month with a month for the judging as the judges aren't paid and they are doing it on their own free time. I will post official details in a week or so.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Sep-07-2010 17:23:

ah ok, ill see if i can participate then. why do you pay btw? whats your gain from this? wouldnt it be better if all participants had to pay 20USD and the winner took it all except for second place got a little price too? is it any genre what so ever?

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Sep-07-2010 17:30:

Because i'm a nice guy. I have nothing to gain. IT would be nice if people had to pay an entry fee so that the contest has people that will be committed but for some reason , it just don't think it will work. My only worry is that there are only 2 participants and it isn't much of a contest.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Sep-07-2010 18:53:

that sure is nice.

Posted by DjStephenWiley on Sep-09-2010 17:52:

ill release the winner if that is any enticement to participate

Posted by Zak McKracken on Sep-09-2010 21:03:

kewl, id join.

Only two participants? To get paid to make an EDM track which potentially will then be released?

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?

I didn't read it that way - I thought he was saying that it was something that could happen. As far as I can see, the competition details haven't been announced, currently there would probably be zero participants.

Posted by Kysora on Sep-09-2010 22:56:

Yeah I think he meant judges, I might give this a shot. Just needs to put up the details first.

Posted by DjStephenWiley on Sep-10-2010 06:49:

Yea, we need firm details along with any relevant content. I'll probably participate.

As for releasing the track, I have no doubt a TA'er will make a bomb shell track that is plenty worthy of release. Especially with Mad For Brad heading up the contest, so consider a release for the winner a done deal (For more information on the label it will be released on, visit www.myspace.com/olympikrecords. That is of course if you want it released. It's not going to be a requirement if you're the winner. You can take your $250 and walk away if you like.

Excited to see how this goes.

If there's a shortage of contestants at some point, I could try something too.. But with the prize in mind, I think that's an unlikely scenario.

edit.

This is reality smacking me in the face again.

MFB, will you only send the melody and stuff to only the participants or will it be for grabs in the contest-thread? Perhaps I'll just lurk around for the first contest and see how the quality is.. I think it's just out reach for me! But I'm really looking forward to even hearing the submitted tracks.

Posted by DjStephenWiley on Sep-10-2010 10:00:

Surely he'll post the content for all. If he just sent out 10 packs and expected 10 he would instead get around 3-4, maybe 5.

Posted by JEO on Sep-10-2010 10:07:

Ok, that sounds good. I'm jizzing my pants of excitement. I'm wondering what the overall quality of submitted tracks will be..

I really hope this thing plays out well, so that future contests will be possible too.

They will be good. There are a lot of sand bagging SOB's here on TA who have a lot more talent than people realize. Half the time they don't even know it.

Posted by JEO on Sep-10-2010 10:32:

Then I guess someone's gonna have to set up one of these for us not-yet-so-talented musicians :P

Atxbigballer1 to the rescue.

Though I suspect he could be entering this competition as well.

Yea, in search of respect.

Posted by Rodri Santos on Sep-10-2010 11:23:

i think i am in for this. It's like a remix contest but you retain the rights of the track so... people join this.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Sep-10-2010 18:40:

I will have the official details soon enough. There won't be much of a rush. 1 month to complete the track, and as long as the judges need which I hope is less than a month so that the winner can be announced by late November. Also looking for someone to act as an escrow so that I don't have to worry about the money part. Someone trustworthy on here that has a paypal account.

Just do the paypal, cut a check or money order yourself. Or do you have a reason that you don't want people to know your personal details such as email, home address and phone number
