-- Gouryella-Ligaya.... is it really a great tune? Whats with all the hype?
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
Im not a keen lover of walhalla, i think most of ferrys productions beats shit out of that
I've heard Ligaya many a time and let me say:
A)It's a fantastic toon. Great synths, epic feel, uplifting, and I'm glad Ferry hasn't followed a string of productions in the nature of "Punk" (Even though I like the house/acid style sometimes).
B)Yes it's overhyped. Not as much as Southern Sun, but still overhyped. Who cares though? Southern Sun being so overhyped didn't stop me from buying the vinyl.
C)It's easily as good as Tenshi and Walhalla, but I don't know if it's as good as the original Gouryella. However, it doesn't matter that Tiesto didn't produce it with Ferry. Have we all forgotten about a little Ferry project called System F? Cry, Elevate, Exhale, Out of the Blue? Need I go on.
D)It is not only considered great because it's under a famous name. It just gets more attention. Remember Ferry's "Punk"? It got the shit bashed out of it on these forums. All the names do is draw attention. But shitty music will be recognized as shitty music.
I think it totally rocks....back to the old trance
The build-up is really amazing and the melody is sweet

why does everyone care so much about the hype? just because theres so much hype doenst make it stop being a good song. just listen to it for what it is, not for who made it or what other people think
it's better than "Gouryella" but not as good as "Tenshi" IMO
overall a brilliant track

face it guys... just admit its a great track, its just some people get a little over excited because they just heard it for the first time and had to express their feelings about it on this forum. in my opinion its deserves the hype.

For me, this is a GREAT tune. It's very similar to Ferry's remix of Barber's Adagio for Strings, which is a great tune. I think it's in the same class as other Gouryella tunes, and frankly, I don't see what Tiesto could have contributed to this song. Listening to it, and to his recent productions/remixes, I almost think it's for the best that he didn't contribute to this project - it's not his sound anymore.
I'm not sure it's my favorite song this year, but its definitely top five. If the climax could only live up to the anticipation built up by the rest of the song, it would be my favorite for sure.

its missing tiesto, simple as that sounds too much like corsten, it could easily pass for System F- Ligaya, without tiesto i dont see gouryella being the show stopper
