Perhaps done a some binge working rather than binge drugging, you wouldn't find such statements so hard to believe. Of course when I am talking big wigs , it is rather more the big wigs of the film industry so I suppose it is meaningless because they couldn't give a shit about EDM but I suppose the odd licensing deal would just about be a few thousand times the pittance beatport sales make for the most part. Well considering the fact I constantly made fun of french people, ravers and drug users in general and made fun of all the lame producers with diss songs in the genre they did better than they could, it is easy to understand why I was not liked. That forum was pure indulgence as the members there are quite idiotic. I mean ravers tend to be dumb but when you consider the the french ones, you get this complete new breed of halfwits that are just too funny to pass up. I haven't posted there in years.

Still don't know what that has to do with my career in LA in the film industry. Perhaps go ask the production forum. They will mostly likely say i'm a dick but nobody will question what I do and how well I do it. I have been on the soundstage , or very often the soundbooth with some very well known directors , composers , producers and the odd network head. Not that I would be in a position to really talk to the network heads or producers but the other 2, lunch is a common thing.

The youtube suggestion is something i also use. I've got a text document which i use to copy all youtube links into. I then go through them deleting them if i've looked at them and have either purchased the track or don't like it. That way i've always got a list of tracks that when my next gig comes up I can go through my text document looking at which tracks I've wanted to purchase over the last while.

The nice thing about this is you sometimes listen to the track a few times over a few weeks. And change your mind on whether you really like the track enough to purchase it. Or if it was just a mood you were in at the time.

I've done that too, but just last week it happened that a few videos I had open were pulled from YouTube because of copyright shit and that's all it said when I opened the tabs. Didn't state the name of the tunes and I had completely forgotten them. I was rather pissed off as I think they were something really good (had sampled both on Beatport earlier on I think).

Instead of copying the url of the track. Search for the track on youtube.

Click on some of the results to find the one you like.

Then click back and on the search results. Copy the text of the video clip you like, eg the text that you would normally click to see the video.

When i paste that in Textedit (mac) The track name i post is actually a url. So not only have I got the track name saved but when i click on it it loads the youtube link in chrome for me

What I have done so far is saving all the songs I like in my favorites list on my youtube account. If the song has been taken down then it still saves the name. although I am going to start researching other ways of organizing my music, i don't want to resort to youtube holding my info.

I don't really use YouTube that much, only occasionally when I can't find a long enough preview of the track elsewhere. But I'll give your method a shot next time I'm in such a situation.

i don't really know what's the quality of the video but youtube to mp3 converter converts the videos in 256kbps mp3s. But i can tell you that some videos uploaded in HD have a quality that is nearly as good as 320k mp3, i don't know the settings some uploaders use but sound brilliant.

I don't dj, but I do buy music with DJing in mind. I still think that hardcore digging to find hidden gems helps out once in ahwhile, but about half of what I buy ends up being stuff played by everyone else.

I'm the same, sometimes if I listen to a drunk pissed, I'll be like 'yeah gotta get that tune!" listen to it the next day and i'm like meh...

I use a combination of beatport and downloading live sets to get my new tunes. So I'll download a Dana set and there is usually 2-3 sweet tracks on there. ID them and then add those artists to my beatport list. Then when they release a new track I'll be right up on it. Over time my artist list has grown pretty big, so I can rely less and less on the real DJ's sets for good tunes let's face it though, since those guys are searching for tunes 24/7..they are always going to have better tunes than people like me.
