I didn't see either in the end. I got an email from Back2Basics at about 10pm saying "Get to the club within an hour or you won't get in. Oh, and tickets are now 18." At that point I was cold sober and about to have a shower.

Thanks for the info, guys. Next time it's a choice of Magda, Mr Scruff or Lee Coombs!

Mr Scruff, very easy decision.

Impressive...all caps, swearing, insulting and the grammar of a Russian villager whose only exposure to television consists of reruns of Jerry Springer.

You just bring the whole package, huh?

zabs fo sho. he has 10x more talent then carl craig as a dj.

saw carl craig play here in nyc at sullivan room few months ago and thought he was absolutely horrible. trainwrecked a few tracks, had absolutely no flow or direction at all, he looked like he had no business of being there and looked bored, was just a horrible experience. maybe he was having an off night but the 3-4 times i saw zabs play, he was on 100%.

Posted by Beats and Beeps on Oct-04-2010 18:14:

ya plus zabs has pretty hair. what more could you want. I dont even know why carl craig wakes up in the morning when he knows that someone like zabs exists.

carl craig and mr. scruff

Posted by Az on Oct-04-2010 20:44:

carl craig was fucking brilliant last time I saw him

Posted by cherrybarry on Oct-04-2010 20:47:

craig is very mediocre as a dj. his live sets though are pretty good and not the typical big-room tech house.

Posted by PivotTechno on Oct-12-2010 00:51:

Scored reduced GL, so decided to give Craig a go last night. Man, talk about a grand exercise in mediocrity.

Even if you were a grain of rice you wouldn't even be able to pull off the impression of a maggot, therefore, you are all-round fail.

Posted by rizo on Oct-12-2010 05:40:

carl craig without a doubt. zabs is technically better but it gets old fast while good music doesnt.

Magda plays Techno, but does not play the big room, "epic white noise build", generic Dubfire bullshit that Craig does. There's a vast difference between the two. Her mixing is also miles above Craig's.

Welcome back, gang. On this week's show:

Efdemin / Rolando

Vs

Lovebirds

Factors in this week's contest: Lovebirds is cheaper, but there's a higher chance of rammed club/long queues/trendy wankers. Efdemin and Rolando are more expensive, but the venue is just up the road from me so there's no need to fuck about with bus/taxis. Also it's a new venue that looks quite cool.

I should also point out that I've been utterly ignoring everyone's advice so far: I didn't go to either Zabiela or Craig, I missed Magda, found out Mr Scruff was sold out so went to see Lee Coombs who nobody had recommended. Still, had a lot of fun dancing to breaks for once and met a girl, so it worked out okay.

Posted by Zyklon_Jay on Oct-28-2010 02:38:

how many fingers? and as much as i don't get most break guys, lee combs is one of them that i do get because while his music may not be en vogue.....he does it right.

ps efdemin...but only if he plays a long set.

lovebirds are just soul clap with talent

Posted by LoveHate on Oct-28-2010 02:44:

lovebirds.

Posted by cherrybarry on Oct-28-2010 04:43:

Efdemin. Lovebirds is a bit predictable. About 50% will be his own productions.

Posted by Frenkieee on Oct-28-2010 17:28:

As much as I would love to see Lovebirds (he still has to make his debut in Holland), my guess is Efdemin/Rolando. Lovebirds is not something I could get into if he's the main DJ. If he was to do a warmup, then fucking A, bring it!

Posted by Az on Oct-30-2010 19:13:

Rolando is the best DJ I've ever seen, so do that.
