Next weekend in Massachusetts!! I can't wait

OMG...Area 2 was off the hook..
it was fuckin crazy as shit...tiesto..digweed..carl cox..
tore the house down..
but before all this..i want to thank amit and billu
for hookin me up witha ride there..and most of all
be there with me for the fun of it..i met mad TA's which
was really really cool...
but Tiesto was all out bangin <---my fav DJ
John Digweed.. was a fuckin sex dj..no lie..
ppl were grinding up and dowm..the music was awesome..boom
boom! up down..it was fuckin insane sick..what ever
extreme words u can think...
by the time carl cox came on..i was ready to give up..cuz i
danced my ass off for diggers and tjs, but carl cox was tight as
shit too...
the speakers were loud as hell./..it was a bangin experiece..
if u get a chane you'll should go..it was def. worth the bill!

Did anyone try to get a camera in? Was there any patdown or search?

fuck yeah!! area2 was FUN AS SHIT!!! I was up in the front few rows for tiesto the whole time!.. everyone was having a BLAST, although when I looked back ppl were just standing there looking at the front, but O well .. their loss!! DEF. worth the $!!!!!!!!

Area2 kicked assssss. Tiesto wuz great, but bein one of the first djs he had problems w/the sound system (too low) and i think the cdj screwed up once. His set wuz overall amazin, but mayb they shoulda put him on later in the night. Digweed kicked ass, i wuz there for the last hour of his set, incredible beats. Cox was, for me neway, the best of the night. I'm a huggggge tiesto fan but cox's set just made me wanna move non stop even tho i was crampin up =P. [btw i was wearin a blue reebok t-shirt and blue denim shorts.] C u all next year at AREA F*CKIN 3!!!!!!!!!!

word! whoever put the DJs in that order must have been on crack. Maybe it was ok to have tab and diedelboy inthe begining, then tiesto, but i think that cox shouldn't have spun before diggers. IMO digweed should have been the last to kind of calm everyone down(although, that wouldn't be the case for many people over there )

Area 2: Bowie to Busta to Blue Man

Growling and grinning like a chemically altered Big Bad Wolf, Busta Rhymes provided the most deliciously awkward moment of Sunday night's Area 2 Tour stop at Nissan Pavilion when the rapper ordered a pair of nervous, middle-aged David Bowie fans in the front row to "Bounce, [expletives], bounce!"

This curious mingling of musical tastes was exactly what Moby had in mind when he created this entertaining and eclectic revue, now in its second year (hence "Area 2"). Besides signing Rhymes to the bill, the smooth-pated imp with a taste for blues-infused techno also invited creepy performance artists Blue Man Group and ageless glam-rock icon Bowie to perform on this steamy opening night of the tour.

If the diverse talent on the main stage wasn't enough to sate the less-than-capacity crowd, more music could be heard thump-thump-thumping from the enormous PlayStation 2 Dance Tent, where a younger, flesh-proud demographic gathered for sweat-demanding spins from DJs Tim Skinner, John Digweed and Carl Cox.

Blue Man Group, the earless oddities made famous by those annoying Intel commercials, took rubber sledgehammers to PVC pipes, oversize drums and an upended piano while a normal-hued backing band -- featuring four drummers, no less -- guided the mute ones through such covers as "White Rabbit." If the Alan Parsons Project were made up of nothing but percussionists, this is what it would sound like.

The Bowie fans had gone into hiding by the time the speed-rapping Rhymes -- insisting that "it's cool to smoke weed while you're driving" -- got around to such MTV-friendly hits as "Break Ya Neck" and "Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check." But the rap-averse could have benefited from the ferocious performer's encore: Despite his profane frustrations with the mostly lethargic crowd, Rhymes rewarded the front-row faithful -- many of whom looked no older than 16 -- with a full bottle of hooch for his party anthem "Pass the Courvoisier."

The still-beautiful Thin White Duke, flashing those pearly whites throughout his hour-plus set and staying supernaturally dry in a black three-piece suit, mixed guitar-loaded songs from his sublime new album, "Heathen," with a smattering of faithfully delivered classics, including "Ashes to Ashes," "Heroes" and "Let's Dance." Claiming that he was "born in Manassas," Bowie closed with an incendiary "Ziggy Stardust," his voice sounding as otherworldly wonderful as it did all those eons ago.

Sprinting back and forth across the strobe-lit stage for a full 90 minutes, hyped-up show-closer Moby attempted to merge all of the day's sounds, mixing dollops of rock, soul, punk and hip-hop into his noisy electronic stew. And if the DJ turned pop star was a bit of a letdown after the brilliant Bowie, at least Moby managed to get all those sweaty kids in the dance tent to join the older folks at the main stage for a beat-mad finale that included "We Are All Made of Stars," "Bodyrock" and "Southside," the last featuring supremely soulful singing from crowd fave Diane Charlemagne.

cox was probably last because he was on the tour last year too...

I just got back from the show in Camden, and imo Cox was perfect to wrap the night up. His set was energetic as hell, nothing but bangin beats for two hours. it was impossible to stand still. Tiesto was good as well. His crowd interactions are great and i thought his mixing made his set flow perfectly. He dropped Southern Sun and the place went nuts, from that point on it was a pretty energetic set, hard to stand still. so all in all, the day was well worth the money.

I saw alot of people with cameras. i guess it depends on how strict the venue is. i wish i had a camera to get some shots of tiesto dancing.

the tent seemed to be were the action was. i caught a little of bowie and moby, but they werent crowded. the tent wasn't that crowded either though. plenty of room to dance, chill, whatever,

BTW--It was funny to see the mingling of those there to see tieto, cox, digweed with the bowie fans. As you watchthe crowd walk by there are UFO pants and mullets. too funny

Amazing! Just Amazing! It was my first event ever and im like omg thats all i can say. I love Tiesto and seeing him up there and being 10 feet away from him was a dream come true. I Didnt meet anyone but a guy with a trance.nu shirt on and he had gotton tiesto to sign his copy of ISOSR3 which was tight as balls. GREATEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE!!!

When I went to see Tiesto in DC, everything that could have gone wrong for the man went wrong. The organization at Nissan Pavillion was terrible, so instead of starting at the scheduled 2:30 PM the show started at 3:30, and they didn't even open the tent until about 3:50. The dj's kept their schedule, therefore Tiesto, who started at 4, became the warm-up DJ. That really sucked because for the first half of the set no one was into it. On top of that Tijs' second record started skipping which wasn't good. Later in the set it started picking up but it still was pretty shitty, and the sound system wsn't even turned up all the way. When there was a break in the drum beats and it was just supposed to be a loud melody, even if like 10 people in the crowd were cheering you couldn't hear the music anymore. On top of that according someone backstage Tiesto was extremely jet lagged, so he wasn't even at 100% .
In spite of all this, he still did a great job, and under the circumstances he was in, he did truly outstanding.

The man of the hour in DC though was definately John Digweed. He tore the fucking place up so much that when cox played, by the end of his set, only a little bit of the crowd (including my friend and me) had enough energy to stick it out. People are criticizing Digweed for not getting into it. Let me tell you guys something, to mix as well as that man does, you don't have time to be jumping up and down and doing crazy shit. He is the ONLY DJ (I'm including his partner Sasha in this) who mixes so well that often times I can't even tell. On top of that he was doing so much subtle work with the sound controls to make the tracks sound their best that he barely had enough time to get his next record and throw it down. So don't bash the man for not appearing into, its his attention to detail that made him the best here, and its that attention that makes him NO. 1 in the world. Don't get me wrong, I generally am a much bigger fan of Tiesto and enjoy his live sets a lot more when I download them and listen to them, but there, actually hearing it live, Digweed was just outstanding and he owned the place.

Cox was also outstanding, his set was a brutle, pounding 3 hours of what one fellow dance mate could only describe as "Pure Punishment". It was certainly the most energetic set I've experienced, though it never let up, so even though the music kept us going, physically our bodies were telling us to slow down. Many People could not keep up the pace for three hours so it emptied pretty quick, Plus it was quite loud during his set, which turned away a lot of people.

All in all though a very good day. I just wish Tiesto hadn't been screwed over. Perhaps when I see him at the top of his game playing in the right time slot he will win me over, but for right now Digweed is my master of the live mix.
