BTW: Cool vids...looked like an insane event.

daft punk havent toured/dj'd in years i thought? maybe im wrong- but i think im right (basing on constant searching because i want to see them so bad!)

so if im right, then how is it legit they are even ON the list???

pfffttt....

(just quoting you bc ive been thinking it for a while now and you happen to mention their name)

nobody said they didn't know him. it is a surprise he's ranked so high, makes no sense to me i wouldn't have even guessed he'd place top 75.

Yes, it's all so very shocking that we have another predictable cookie cutter list that almost no one agrees with in one way or another. Yet somehow people continue to say that they don't care about the list, don't vote, etc. but somehow the threads on the topic never cease to end. If you don't agree with something, one of the best things you could do is not support it. Whether you badmouth or praise it's still a form of publicity.

IDK...regardless of how little stock people put into the list, the DJ Mag top 100 dj poll is still one of the biggest news items of the year in our scene. Its never NOT worth talking about really, regardless of how weird the results are.

I haven't voted in a few years, but I'm always intrigued by the results.

What does rile me up though, is to see DJs and producers taking the poll too seriously...seriously enough to actually attempt to rig the results in their favor. Thats definitely worth some good ol' internet discussion if you ask me.

im sure that a better placing on the poll means you can demand for money/gig. In the end, it is a business and it's all about the paper. go out and get it, even it means paying people in india 1cent per vote

Posted by RoBDaWG on Oct-29-2010 07:01:

I always see a lot of hype on Facebook and stuff about Dash Berlin, like people being hardcore fans, I do wonder what it is that makes him so popular.

Posted by 09vdubgti on Oct-29-2010 07:10:

^ free bj's per vote.......

Meh dont care much about this list...

but i also read someone say dada life is cheese, i happen to disagree for the most part.

It is big news because the public makes it so. If no one cared and they really saw it as a joke like they claim, it would not be nearly as popular. Go ahead and feel free to talk about it... I'm not talking about those who actually care. I'm talking about the hypocrites that claim they don't care but still "care" enough to whine about it.

Yes, some artists do take it too seriously. I really hate the spam, but if I was in the same position and needed the votes I would prob spam too, so I kinda understand where they are coming from. What I do feel is unfair and unnecessary are the artists that try to cleverly bribe their votes by a giveaway, contest, or offering anything else in exchange for a vote. If you are truly skilled you would not have to offer anything special to earn the vote.

The person that said that prob hasn't heard any of their sets or seen them live. I too disagree with that statement. Imo they are one of the few artists bringing something unique to the table. They are also very entertaining performers, and cool as hell.

I had the opportunity to interview them last year for " 365Mag's - The 10 Questions"

You can check out the interview here:

I just think it stems from that 2004 incident with Tiesto who was #1 and didn't perform for the club instead he rested or something for the olympics.

I forgot the dramaz.

Yea, I remember something like that and it was allegedly mentioned that he would never be #1 again.

Found a link:
http://www.trackitdown.net/news/show/556.html

* and that article says a lot without actually saying it, if you read into it a lil.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Oct-29-2010 13:56:

Cuz then in 2005 tiesto probably KNEW he wouldn't get #1 ever again so he had on his website to vote for some upcoming producers at the moment and not him.

Which I hope Armin does next year - I know I've said this before but how big can your ego possibly be at this point? It's at full capacity.

I don't think he needs the title anymore to get gigs or anything. Such a shame for the young ones.

Posted by euphoria on Oct-29-2010 14:03:

Precisely

Eric Prydz moved to London and is no longer classified as part of the SHM.

Didn't know, but at the same time, I'd doubt that many that would vote for SHM would know that either. I can change #5 to Afrojack if you'd like

"Rock stars ask for mountains of cocaine and racks and racks of whores,” they scoffed. “It says a lot for dance music when Tiesto is happy with a cheese fucking sandwich.”"

WOOOOOOOOOOOOHAHAHAHAHHHA I love it

So Tiesto stole the only copy of our brand new tune: Dada Life - Just Bleep Me (Satisfaction). Well, last saturday we played it just before he went on in Liverpool! Muhahaha!

is there more of a story behind this?

my ears hurt...i dunno whats worse, that someone remade satisfaction or the fact that tiesto stole it rofl

Posted by LAdazeNYnights on Nov-06-2010 22:36:

i think dada life lashing out at tiesto is so retarded.
i could be wrong...but he's the reason they're at where they are right now- or at least he's who got them a ton of exposure on the global scene. he named them as his most underrated artists last year and then had dada life opening for him at some shows, and has been playing their tunes out.

Posted by BradMiller on Nov-07-2010 00:10:

Could always be in good fun too, ya never know when something like this is taken out of context.
