i dunno, i thought skrillex was on some new, ill, other shit. Thanks for not bashing me personally, guys. Apparently I pissed Des off so much with my championing of Skrillex that he is going to produce a few tracks to show me whats good. lol

I never heard of this guy named skrillex, but they guy has his own style, and you can't hate on the guy for that. I mean listening to his track posted, I am not a fan, but there are people out there who like it.

To me his style sounds like euro pop with an electro and somewhat dub step twist. Pretty much scooter slowed down, and use dubstep rythms.

Can't hate the guy for people liking his music.

the Mt. Eden Dubstep remix of Still Alive is one of the few dubstep tracks i really enjoy

innocence by nero is also decent, though sounds like the popular wobble nonsense that's everywhere. idc, it's catchy haha

I kinda understand what you mean, but at the same time you dont know how much work he's put in for him to have gotten this far.
It's cool if you think his music sucks, but at the end of the day that's your opinion. I'm not trying to bash anyone here, but c'mon, everyone's got the right to an opinion, just like you got a right to yours. He's dominating the beatport charts right now simply cuz people like what he's putting out.

I personally check out beatport now and then for new music that I like, and didnt really see anything regarding Skrillex dropping a new album, it just kinda dropped out of nowhere. I'll admit it's not the best out there, but it is different, and I think people dig that. I pretty much stick to trance and prog house for the most part, with a little electro on the side, so I really have an unbiased opinion about all this.

On the other hand, you saying that other artists go unoticed because of people like Skrillex, how is that any of his fault? He's just trying to get his music out there just the way you, as well as any other dj/producer is. You can't help what people like. You make music you want to make and just expect others to like it. It just worked in his case and appealed to a mass audience.

WOW he was in From First to Last? I never saw that coming in a million years...

It certainly isn't any artist's "fault" and hey, as an artist myself, I can only hope my upcoming album gets as much hype as this current Skrillex one. And if that does happen, of course there will be the musical snobs (let's be honest, like me in this case haha) that will critique every detail on the boards, for better or worse. And I hope if that does happen, I won't hold it against them! Many times, people will say that it's the Tiesto's and Deadmau5's that initially get the people into this beautiful world of electronic music. This is all true, but then the next step is the (for lack of a better word) jaded musical snob telling them to "check this song out, or this one, or this one, it's so much better!", etc... I didn't really like minimal techno until the annoying people on this board hated on the current trance music so much that I eventually checked it out for myself! I didn't like dubstep until my friend showed me how much intricate it was to produce it compared to minimal techno, and I checked it out... The negativity does sometimes give birth to a greater appreciation of the genre, and isn't always just for the sake of being negative

Very true. Now I see where you're coming from, I can respect that.

I'm not a big fan of Skrillex either. I've been listening to some DubStep but im not a huge hardcore fan of it.

Not really a fan of dubstep but I like how they're experimenting a lot in the genre. Here's my submission of something that caught my ear months ago.

I'm not a fan of dubstep/electro, but I think this song from him is pretty decent. You can hear the guitar background this guy has at 2:34.
