I guess the only thing we can really tangibly do is sit and wait for the best.
Hopefully these new technologies will bloom, and hopefully this opens up new doors for broadband access.
*crosses fingers*
Oh yes, I couldn't agree more.......
follow in the footsteps of webby
p-w
Telstra's even worse. I started off with an unlimited account. Then, they slapped a 3GB limit on it, then they raised the price by 20 bucks a month and said you can still pay the original monthly fee but you have to go down to a 1GB limit. WTF am i gonna do with 1 GB
550 MB a month now
OPTUS CAN OFFICIALY EAT A DICK AND SUCK ON IT!
This is getting ridiculous, what is the point of getting optus cable?
when yer cable speed wont last long.
550 megs a month on cable?
fuck me! i download more than that in a week on dialup!
Broadband internet in Australia is fucking shit, even bill Gates had a go at Telstra for them being such tight arses with the internet, i mean the least they could do is give free traffic within australia, or within the specific state, there is plenty of bandwidth just sitting there not being used which will cost them nothing to transfer. But I don't see that happening, the only people that have utilised that is Netspace with their ADSL plans, they give free traffic between all netspace users, so it doesnt count toward their download limit.
Yeh i've had this cap on for about 3 months, and always 10 days in i get capped, right now i've had it for 3 days and i've gone passed the 500mb mark. It's just not enough, Telstra + Optus = Money Grubbing Bastards
i have recently converted to cable.
optus..
GRRR
i was silly enuff to take the 550mg limit
haha
withing 3 days
all gone
and went to not even 28k!
FUKINNNN
I figured it out its 96 megs a day if with the 3 gig cap, a question for you guys , does streaming radio shows count on your download limit ?

8. Data Usage Limitations 8.1 Each OptusNet Cable Pricing Plan provides a monthly Data Allowance that represents the maximum Data Usage that can be used at High Speed during a calendar month (regardless of the number of days in that month). 8.2 You may at any time request to change your Pricing Plan, however a change of Pricing Plan will only take effect on the 1st day of the calendar month following your request. Changing Pricing Plan does not effect the duration of the Initial Agreement Period. 8.3 Data Usage and Data Allowance are measured in Megabytes (MB) and for all purposes 1Gigabyte (GB) = 1000 Megabytes (MB). 8.4 Your Data Usage is reset to zero on the 1st day of each calendar month. Your Data Usage applies to downstream data only. Upstream data usage is not counted. 8.5 An online data usage monitoring application (My DataMonitor) is provided to allow you to see your Data Usage for the current calendar month. The My DataMonitor web-page will be updated every 15 minutes approximately. 8.6 If your Data Usage exceeds the Data Allowance for any given calendar month, then your access to the Service will be Speed Limited. 8.7 Your Service will remain Speed Limited until the 1st day of the next calendar month. Unused Data Allowance in any month cannot be rolled over into subsequent months. 8.8 Optus may notify you by email to your Primary Email Account when your Data Usage has: a) exceeded 80% of your Data Allowance; b) exceeded 100% of your Data Allowance and your access to the Service has become Speed Limited. 8.9 The table Bandwidth Usage - Some Practical Guidelines for Usage available at http://www.optus.com.au/optusnetcable sets out some practical guidelines on how to determine what types of usage of the Service use a large amount of bandwidth and therefore may increase your Data Usage. 8.10 Optus reserves the right to monitor any additional data usage whilst access to your Service is Speed Limited. You acknowledge and agree that Optus may need to take steps to protect against extreme data usage by you whilst your access to the Service is Speed Limited. |

| How much is your telephone bill every month? |
I think theres one positive , at least when you do exceed your limit get reduced to the speed of a 56k , you dont have to pay for dial up costs like when your on dial up , I mean you pay $40 a month on dial up costs alone , thats excluding the $20 you pay for your ISP each month, so it kinda works out the same !

It appears that there has been a little kick start in terms of CHEAP unlimited usage... AppleComm (Green) and Tel Pacific have introduced unlimited download plans... This is great, but i'm a bit sus about these... there seems to be no catchs in the Ts & Cs... But it all sounds too good to be true...
Here are the links for their pricing:
