lol. seems like some of you are saying because sven has a gimmick (IE, do retarded things while spinning), he's a good DJ. by same token, deadmau5 is a good DJ too, regardless of quality of tunes he plays?

It's sad to see some of the responses in here. I only put down my opinion in case anyone wanted my 2 cents but instead it became the focal point of attention. It seems like slingshot and She_fitz took the time to read the question and gave the answers I was looking for so thanks for those (hint hint to anyone else who would like to respond).

I really don't know what you're trying to prove. All I asked for and I hate to mention this again is for those interested in seeing him come to play a gig in Toronto, for what specific reasons they would be intregued to attend. It's an open question with no right or wrong answer (I only gave my 2 cents to try and contribute to the conversation but like most typical TA inquiries, it becomes the focal point of attention). If you'd like to know the extent of my knowledge of Sven, you could have asked on your first post and I'd have no problem sharing it with you but since you've decided to take the roll of fascist authority, I'm very reluctant.

And btw, nice way to show you're a hypocrite by telling Yohan not to stir shit up after calling me an idiot on the first page.

If you don't like him thats fine, everyones entitled to their own opinion, but to try to shoot him down and say he's not talented is a sign that you're oblivious when it comes to the subject of him as an entertainer.

Is he a legend cuz of his shenannigans, or cuz of his musical ability? the way people talk about him, seems to be mostly the shenannaganisms. <- this is the question.

Referring back to Wikipedia or his discography doesnt really help.

so he's good then.

why take you seriously? if you wanna say Sven's good dj to go see these days then post a set or a tracklist or something. he was involved with harthouse and Eye Q a long time ago; that doesn't say much about what he spins now, especially in the last few years when he's treated like an icon.

i never said that sven is a good dj to see these days. That is all about personal preference (which i am not arguing). However, that does not take away from the fact that he is a legend because of his history with regards to creating and promoting the music.

This is why i posted the discography for spaniard to get a clue.

His name is no doubt legendary, discography is fantastic, but sometimes legends are manufactured for other purposes. Just his status as "a legend", not his history. I mean, by this, if you read some other big artist's bio, one that has been around for a long time, then it is likely to say similar things. It would be cool if someone (mostly likely one who has been around a long time) could say if Sven's music has lived up to his status, up to the present era of clubbinghood.
