lol. seems like some of you are saying because sven has a gimmick (IE, do retarded things while spinning), he's a good DJ. by same token, deadmau5 is a good DJ too, regardless of quality of tunes he plays?
Enjoy......
^
hahaha
i love sven and would see him in Ibiza when I get the chance
as for his antics LOVE EM!
the best vid though would have to be this:
^ Sven dances in a feminine way, lol.
but the midget-trance master is teh winner

| Originally posted by SPANIARD Good point. It's sad to see some of the responses in here. I only put down my opinion in case anyone wanted my 2 cents but instead it became the focal point of attention. It seems like slingshot and She_fitz took the time to read the question and gave the answers I was looking for so thanks for those (hint hint to anyone else who would like to respond). |

Sven Vth is Germany's most enduring and accomplished DJ/producer. Since he began DJ'ing at the famous Dorian Gray club at the age of 18, Sven has created ripples through the world of electronic music in many ways: As co-founder of the trendsetting labels Eye Q, Harthouse and Cocoon; as owner of the clubs OMEN and Cocoon Club; and perhaps most importantly, as the godfather of Germany's trance and techno scene since its inception in the early 90s. Sven, like no other person in electronic dance music, has the ability to expose underground sounds to the mass population. His 14+ hour sets are the stuff of legend, and he will be DJ'ing parties until he his unable to physically operate a turntable - and even then he will be doing something innovative to propel electronic music into the new era. |
to add, if thorsten fenslau was still alive and moroder didnt drift off from dance music in the early 80s, they would surely be top candidates for the spot.

| Originally posted by SPANIARD is this the sort of behaviour that everyone was making him seem like a legend? Is this the reason that there is such a big deal about him? I'd like to be enlightened on why there is so much fuss surrounding his presence on the decks if it be musically or not. |

Personally, having followed his career for quite a while and being well informed back to the days when he played music in british train tunnels for raves of up to 2,000 people, I find him to be a pretty sad story. In my opinion, a grown man acting like this who has a teenage daughter should be ashamed of himself. This is not an attack on his music; although I find his music to be quite outdated and not very unique since it's just a delayed echoe of what other DJ's in that spectrum have already played. |

However, I'd like some input on this as it pertains to the first paragraph. |

| Originally posted by Nrg2Nfinit I think i answered your question. If you don't know by know why he is a legend then i think you need to be educated. The reason why i have stern words for you is that you ignorantly start a thread trying to downplay a true legend of electronic music because of his shenannigans on stage. |
obviously because of his shennanigans! lets just throw 25 years of musical talent and ingenuity out the window and take a look at a couple of recent videos posted of him being mashed at parties.
How is one suppose to even take the question posted by the thread starter seriously. lol.
Did most of you guys just start listening to electronic music 2 years ago? i mean its been around for over 40 years now you know.

i never said that sven is a good dj to see these days. That is all about personal preference (which i am not arguing). However, that does not take away from the fact that he is a legend because of his history with regards to creating and promoting the music.
This is why i posted the discography for spaniard to get a clue.
