There is a ASIO driver you can DL from serato that allows the use of the SL1 box as a soundcard.

traktor will allow you to use one sound card only, so you'd have to switch over to the internal sound card completely - disabling the audio 4. i don't think that would make very much sense to anyone out there

you could try and build a "virtual" soundcard (yes there's tools out there) but you shouldn't bother because the scratch features of traktor will only work when an audio 4 or 8 is durectly selected as the soundcard in the software.

that's why i'm suggesting an additional software. audacity might give you a good, free start.

that's a question of how you want build your setup. do you want to use the scratch setup displayed above in this thread? then you won't have any connections left. but on the other hand, you'd most probably need an external mixer anyway, so why not connect your monitors there?

if however you plan using an external controller or the likes, and will be using the software's internal mixer, you could connect your monitors to the second output. but then you'd have nowhere to plug your headphones.

you can use pretty much every sound card in traktor or ableton, traktor scratch however comes with one important limitation: the scratch features (i.e. timecode control) only work with the audio 4/8 dj interfaces.

And also with Traktor Scratch certified mixers! click!

I would like try a certified mixer one of these days. I wonder how it would sound without the need of an external audio interface (audiodj8). No extra cables needed, just plug in and play.
