They have no problem covering Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Ambient, IDM, whatever.

And jeez I didn't say they should start reviewing Dash Berlin tracks or put Armada labels in that list, I'm just saying that they're acting like 14 year olds that have been completely ignoring the genre for years now because it's not cool. There isn't coming enough good stuff out of Trance to review it regulary anyways but they're not even doing a single a year.

They are primarily a techno/house website that hint on other underground styles (i.e. drum n bass, dubstep, disco etc). Trance in no way, shape or form, fits in with what they do. It's commercial, it's poppy, it's cheese, it's fluff, and they don't touch it. Why should they?

They don't review/talk about trance for the same reason they don't review/talk about Bob Sinclar and David Guetta (aside from the general, so and so dj will be at so so and party).

Did I say they should review ASOT-stuff? Against what many people think, there still is underground Trance.

I mean for example that Mistique stuff that a lot of people here love obviously has a huge prog influence but it's still pretty good.

In my years I've found that its the differences in the music that make our scene diverse and in that note I sincerely hope you are absolutely thrilled with the music RA promotes and the work they do... though I would find it preferable if you had actual knowledge and experience with the music you slag, this is TRANCEaddict and you are more than welcome to go on about anything you like - be if fact, fiction or some personal vendetta only you can understand.

I'm sure people would enjoy reading a well-written review on a slightly-mainstream artist. I'm not asking RA to start covering Steve Aoki or Skrillex, but it would be refreshing to read something different on there instead of the usual bumblefuck techno and house producers. For some reason RA's editorial staff avoids even slightly-mainstream stuff like the plague. It's not going to hurt them if they devote a few words to it.

I read mainly the RA reviews since they usually have some obscure stuff that I find interesting (like the Black Dog's Airports album which I bought). But you can't really describe yourselves as "living and breathing dance music" if you shun its biggest genre.

So they don't cover trance? Who cares? This isn't to say trance is shit, but simply to say that it doesn't matter. Go find another online publication that covers it.

As for a slightly-mainstream artist? How bout the podcast with Quincy Jones? Thats pretty fucking special and has nothing to do with the modern electronic scene.

There isn't another. You can count the number of websites or magazines that write about electronic music with any semblence of depth or understanding on one hand, and most of those are blogosphere sites that only re-tweet the same dozen electronic albums as everyone else. Resident Advisor is the only remotely high profile, remotely prolific website that writes primarily about dance music in a remotely worthwhile way. Once again, from 1997:
