I started this thread to try to understand where the hatred towards Americans as a people (not as a country) stems from, but literally everything you say makes zero sense. If you mistake my questioning as aggression towards you, I apologize, but I simply do not understand anything you're saying. I don't know if it's your English or what, but I haven't thought anything you've said has a shred of sense or logic in it.

they hate on America everyday....so let them....until it's time for some kind of a handout....

Examples:

1. All the people who burn the US flag during their demonstrations, immediately run to the supply truck from US whenever it arrives and then smile like they just fucked the prom queen.

2. All the countries hate on the US.....untill it's time to recieve some kind of humanitarian package... so when everything is ok in their country they hate on Us, if something happens they wait for whose help ??? that's right the US of A...

Excessive exposure, and stupidity from nationalists that happen to live in other countries due to Tall Poppy syndrome.

Let's face it, we don't know much about other countries, except the ones that get the most exposure. Kazakhstan is amongst the world's ten largest countries, and even educated people find it difficult to name the capital; Portuguese is the 7th most spoken language in the world, yet I don't think anyone would know how to say "Thanks" in Portuguese without looking it up on Google, though they might get this word right in 8th and the 9th most spoken languages (Russian and Japanese, respectively); Bollywood is one of the largest centres of film production in the world... can you name three films produced there? "Slumdog Millionaire" isn't on the list.

This usually drives nationalists nuts. "How come Americans expect me to know their capital is New York [sic] yet they think our capital is Buenos Aires?" is among the things I've heard here in Brazil. Add this to the fact that no country is made up of intellectuals, and you're set: the American version of the ignorance that could be shown anywhere in the world is lampshaded and, because we do know a thing or two about the US, their oblivion regarding the rest of the world is seen as utterly moronic.

And there's also the idea that Americans are too militaristic for their own good. And overly religious. And, in a rather ironic twist, I heard many a Brazilian girl claiming that American women are sluts

Lira is partly right. American culture is so ubiquitous worldwide that almost everyone on Earth is familiar with it, and through it a weird, hyperreal shadow-play of the American people. You can't hate something you've never heard of.

But if you think that most people who hate Americans have never spoken to one... think about where you're writing this thread and where you read those haters.

I could be butchering this, and I haven't the slightest clue if there are any accents, but my only Portuguese friend taught me...Vem Ca Lira! (Let's go Lira!)? I hope that was right haha. Anyways, thank you for some relevant discussion.

every american I've met during my travels has done nothing but further enforce the stereotype of stupidity and blind patriotism. most places in america apart from like 2 states are god damn shitholes filled with morons. period.

"Evety single American is fat" is not the same as "Americans are fat". The latter is completely true. And generalizations are not wrong or illegitimate but rather an important tool in decision making and understanding the world.

We've got our fair share of sluts, and foreigners can get lucky quite easily compared to the locals, but we tend to think Americans are less prude than we are.
