As for decent emo that's edm influenced:

It's not supposed to be trance. A lot of metalcore bands have guys that play live synth melodies on keyboards. We Came As Romans is one of them.

IMO music is all preference. Well, ideally it is but with dub it seems like people just like to say "I listen to Dubstep." Its like the mau5 fad, but i personally like hybrids to an extent. Before i listened to trance and other electronic i loved the band Still Remains, which was the first band i heard that incorporated a nice synth into their songs.
