Le me just correct something: though Spanish makes no distinction between the words "no" and "not", that word does work like the word "not" in that case, exactly the way you think it should. The full sentence WhooCares provided is (I believe):

"(No, nosotros) no fuimos al mall"
(No, we) NOT go.we.PAST TO.THE mall

However, your question still is an interesting one because it probably does feel like everything in Spanish is backwards for an English speaker and vice-versa, until you study a language like Japanese that is completely opposite of what Spanish is like, making English not that much of an opposition. And, in Brazilian Portuguese, I'd naturally end the sentence with the negation, depending on the stress:

"A gente foi pro shopping não"
THE people go.PAST TO.THE mall NOT

(yeah, we just say "the people" for "we")

And I just woke up and I can't be arsed to write a concluding paragraph to make this a coherent whole.

you shouldn't do literal translation of languages. you will only feck things up.


El sabado no fuimos al centro comercial.
No fuimos al centro comercial el sabado.
no, fuimos al centro comercial el sabado = no, we went to the mall on saturday. (this becomes an affirmative sentence because of where the comma is located.)

no estabamos ah� = we weren't there
nosotros no lo hicimos = we didn't do it
no lo hicimos = we didn't do it. the 'we' is understood in the plural form of the verb hacer

best of luck in learning spanish....correctly.

is it really possible to learn another language, by just reading about it online, and using those programs like the rosetta stone?

Yukii, that's not exactly podcast material, so I'll do it here. Babytalk is really challenging, specially in a foreign language, so I have to assume she's mispronouncing some words to sound cute. However, it's something like this (I'm adding parentheses and mangling the spelling for effect):

"NAME-chan, banana ti(m)e! Here, here... NAME-chan, banana-ti(m)e! Delishus, 'tis delishus! <High-pitched sound I can't understand> It's aw you can eat, rye? Cuz NAME's body is very small, so it's aw you can eat! Well, then, till next week!"

I feel both proud and retarded for doing this

It's a profit-profit card, so I assume you can profit more than just the 10%, because the word profit is repeated. So there are TWO profits you can benefit from! Or, rather, you could benefit from. I assume it expired on 27th November.

Well, its Japan so you never know if its for dry cleaning or bear molestation, so best to have these things clear if I ever go back there. Its also more than likely quite old as the car is nearly 14 years old and it was down underneath the actual gear stick near the selectors, goodness knows how it'd end up there!
Rest of the car is completely in Japanese as well, including some things with "!" marks on them which are probably dangerous... like the sun visors
