This was supposed to an entertainment Thread (failed). Although it seems Astronomy seems to be debunked to a degree, I still feel it holds some sort of relevance into a person personality. I'm not sure about planets billions of miles away actually affect our personality! I did say it's not a 100% fact but there is a slight degree of comparison to a person personality and their sign leaving the old fundamentalies out such as Capricorns divine planent is Saturn.
But, have you not ever met a person with the same sign as you and they have similar attributes?
Now I do see what you are saying, because I have seen more debunking Astronomy than I have found scientist saying Astronomy as being 100% FACT.
Possibly our ruling planets that are light speeds away from our own earth can definitely be a debate that doesn't directly effect us. I'm currently searching for a sort of update in Astronomy like the way peoples put their own modern day theory on religion.
Example: A lot of people thinks Adam & Eve was just a story about a man and a woman but we know they never really existed because if they did we would all be a catalyst of incest.
So maybe Astronomy has a new age version as well (that I am search for) I have met people of my sign and they are very similar to me. And Sagittarius people are for the most part very laid back/soft spoken and have a nice disconnection away from other people when they want to do their own thing.
But I have found that you have to go to the roots of Astronomy and with that being the foundation it seems to be debunked but I have seen and witnessed in my life people of similar signs act acorrdingly. But then you need to find out what time they were born , whas it a full moon, was their moon in Jupitar, are they on the cusps between two signs...etc...etc...and the list goes on and on.
I learn from this but I still feel inside me mind I can see coralations between signs.
I do agree Astronomy is far more interesting than Astrology!

Date you were born on? January 8th
What is your mates sign? Sagittarius
How does your mates sign affect you in your relationship? Her laid back, soft spoken and her disconnection from people because she is so inside herself (introvert) and at all times makes her feel she doesn't have to explain to anyone what she does or is going to do.
Anyone famous born on your Birthday? Stephen Hawking, Elvis, and David Bowie but I try to not harp on David Bowie... I'm an Elvis man.
I love science (although) not as educated as I would like to be.
And my music love can simply be put in the two musicians that are born on my birthday.
Don't be sarcastic Lira
I know Astronomy has been debunked but I still feel it has a relevance.
Water signs are great for Capricorns. I've dated an Aquarius and I almost got married, that's how good it was.

Capricorn (December 22-January 20)
Class. That's what Capricorns have. Not much sensuality,
hardly ever fun to be with, but lots of class. They tend
to look taller than they really are, and, speaking of which,
Capricorn men always seem to have 10 inches, even if they
really only have 3.
Of course, most of it is facade, and deep down inside they
are really conservative, tight-assed cowards...with class.
These are the true snots of the world. But they make good
supportive wives....especially the men.
Often self-conscious, and overly concerned with what other
people think of them, Capricorns can be a real pain. They are
much more interested in appearances than any other sign. But
if you cross them, they don't get angry, they don't get even.
They just turn their internal thermostat down about 100 degrees
when they see you. Women who marry a Capricorn, and flirt, end
up with a pussy full of cocksicle.
Most horoscopes claim that Capricorns can be the most passionate
lovers in the Zodiac when they lose their inhibitions, but since
they rarely touch drugs, this almost never happens.
Famous Capricorns are Louis Pasteur, Ben Franklin, Beethoven,
Isaac Newton, Henry Miller, Rudyard K.ipling, Marlene Dietrich,
Loretta Young, Mary Tyler Moore, Danny Kaye, Cary Grant, Janis
Joplin and Elvis Presley.

I've been studying astrology long enough now in order to determine how true it is based on subjective analysis of various people that I know and my everyday experimental discourses to determine the accuracy of astrology through the analysis of noticing traits and comparing amongst various individuals, actually proves astrology to be 99.9999% correct (don't ask for facts, study it yourself). People who say it's bullshit are either too close-minded or have an inflated sense of ego shoved far up their ass.
The reason why people tend to say it's bullshit is because of some trivial reading printed in newspapers where it obviously doesn't have any relevance to their lifestyle. These are simply for fun, hence why I refer to them as trivial readings. Astrology seems very intricate, and complicated when you steep further into its details of how it all works behind our physical and mental makeup. I for example, am a Capricorn with Cancer as my ascendant. Capricorns are typically seen or described as a monotonous, boring bunch, always located on the sidelines of a social event whilst suddenly becoming the center of all sardonic humor and sarcastic wit (just like Lira, no offense
). I however have Cancer as an ascendant (where the ascendant is our inner psych). What suprised me was that nearly everything about my personality was based on typical Cancerian attributes, the begrudging, sensitive, emotional, irritable, introverted type with a penchant for anything with a sense of darkness or melancholic (not in an emo way but yes sometimes!).
To verify this shit was all true, I've compared myself to other Capricorns and differed MAJORLY. Once again, every human being contains a unique astrological composition. Nobody is the same.
And btw, I have never met a Gemini in my entire life who was not dualistic or had a knack for endless conversation and debate, ever. So there.

but still an enjoyable read.
All right, my turn (nah, that wasn't an alt of mine, just a fellow Capricorn doing what we do best: annoying everyone else with our tree-hugging intellectualism
).
Although astrology is too complex a pseudo-science, and its descriptions tend to be too vague, I've got to admit it's more credible than homoeopathy (which is just hyperbollocks), though not as credible as acupuncture (i.e. the metaphysics behind it is completely unreliable, but may yield the occasional good result). Why? Because a theory doesn't need to be true to be good, and it's a matter of degree. The claims of astrology need not be accurate to give us predictions that are better than chance (though Indian astrology doesn't, and I'd like to see a similar study done with our version) - and, just to state a quick truism, something that is better than chance is better than nothing. If Western astrology passes the test of "being slightly better than chance", then just let it be.
Like I said before, I'm a Capricorn (and Sagittarius is my ascendant). Does that say anything about the alignment of the stars when I was born? Not at all. Am I influenced by the aforementioned constellations? Hardly, and believing so is likely an egregious error. Before I go on, let me be clear that I think the theory behind astrology is as hard to swallow as the teachings of any given reiki master... but perhaps the social belief that you belong to a certain group of people (among other more credible hypotheses) may be behind it. If you've got enough people that believe their zodiacal signs mean something, it will mean something, thanks to the power of culture (and nothing to do with stars).
However, astrology lovers have been able to guess my zodiacal sign quite frequently, and my two favourite authors (who happen to have a worldview very similar to mine), were born on the week I was born. As a matter of fact, it's a week that's produced a fair lot of humanist anarchists, like Pierre-Joseph Proudhon and other annoying plur'd out rebels like Martin Luther King. Might just be a coincidence, and I'd be hard-pressed to come up with a reason why it can't be so, but it's nonetheless a very interesting correlation. Is this just confirmation bias? Possibly. So, whereas I wouldn't take astrology too seriously because I'm fully aware of our tendency to see patterns even when there isn't one, it's still barrels of fun... specially for pulling birds!
As for Cancers, that's my fiancée's ascendant, and some of my best relationships are with Cancer girl friends. It's far from being a universal though.
Anyone know of any double-blind tests disproving astrology? Now that would be interesting... Found a study that apparently disproves astrology... unsurprisingly, I guess that's just fun and games then

Nah, too hyperactive for that. I do know the rules and I've played it a few times, but I usually lose patience before the end of the game
