At least he has a sense of humor about it

BT's 4th album Emotional Technology was quite a different album in its original conception. BT had even worked with Peter Gabriel on one of the songs. But BTs place was robbed, along with all of the work on his 4th album. So BT had to start from scratch.

The part about this that is hard to believe is the fact that BT had no backup of his work. The man has an IQ that puts him in about the highest 3% of the worlds populous, and he made that kind of stupid mistake doesn't seem plausible.

This is the first time I'm hearing about the theft being a stall tactic though.

you'd be surprised at some shit. I work with technology and I've had my share of things that wouldn't have happened to your otherwise well-versed IT person. Like returning a laptop backpack with 3 2.5" drives in it. All of my documents, designs, diagrams, hundreds of hours of work, templates - lost. Drives were unencrypted too, with shitload of passwords that had to be changed. Funny thing is - few days before that, I thought: I should back those up and encrypt the drives. Laziness won.

Sometimes, just a sheer stupidity.

this is awful, btw. I love BT - he's my hero and I admire him immensely. Shame he lowers his standards to be more commercial, as some of his more complex works are FUCKING INSANELY ALIEN AND AMAZING.

I can listen to Emotional Technology on repeat for hours... I'm so glad to hear he and his girl are alive. I took my wife to see him live when she was pregnant with our daughter. The piece titled "Good morning Kaia" was very moving for me. So, my baby got to hear BT before she was born. She loves trance music and when I put on BT she just sits down and listens. For someone who cannot sit on her butt for more than 30 seconds, it's really odd and cool at the same time... there's some sort of connection that she probably still has to this day.

I would literally quit my job and sell my worldly possessions to be his apprentice... (but imagine my family may not be too keen on that)

you cant really blame bad luck when all this shit happens ALL THE FUCKING TIME, he is probably just a moron making idiotic decisions but hides it well.

ugh though, imagine something like this happens to you.

Maryland seems to be very cold and snowy during winter days.

On a funny note: time to fire up kontakt and load tonehammer's fireplace library, ROFL.
