-- what to do about harsh promoters...
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
If you didn't have a promoter you'd be doing all the promotion yourself anyways, and would have less of a chance at getting better and better gigs in the future. I don't see what your problem is. Do the show and shut up, find a new promoter, or promote yourself.
I can't think of any promoter who isn't a least bit sketch... Fuck it. Unless its the only gig in town then find someone else to work with.
lets face it promoters are dj's these days
Same shit happens in oz, see some dj's get huge festival gigs but NEVER play at clubs, when all the club dj's can't even crack the festivals.
What you describe is par for the course. He obviously added the other dj to play you off each other. He probably is telling the other dj that you sold 100 tickets and he better get his ass in gear. All he is interested in is the tickets because probably only 10% of the ppl you've promised will actually show up. If he gives you complimentary tickets to your friends then you'll be basically bringing in no money. So is he a slime ball? Sure without a doubt. Hopefully this will help you remove any delusions you had about making a living as a dj or its artistic merits.
Just sell as much as you can, Babe.
And recognize, it is what it is.
fist their kunts and asses and use them as a puppet
