Yes! This after party has potential to be absolutely destructive. Check out where it's being held at.... http://ricdetroit.org/2010/?id=home

Russel Industrial Center

Deary deary me...

EDIT: Did anyone else notice it's not DEMF anymore? It's PEMF now... perhaps indicating stemming away from it's "Detroit roots" ...

I got goosebumps from those photos! That is what you call raw He is a British institution - although, he once said he was established, but not part of the establishment, haha. Just picture this type of brutal, industrial-strength techno in a place like that:

Russel Industrial Center is super fun for parties!!! But doubtful that i'll hit that party up, even for Clarke. I suppose he's booked for DEMF as well and can see him there if so. Umek is at DEMF as well apparently...

As for the boat, I would be good money that Sven is on it. I've been the past two boat parties and while fun, it just wasn't worth it. Maybe if it was cheaper or they stopped midway to let you off. It wasn't worth the $50 to be forced to be on the boat for 4 hours... everyone jammed on one floor, sound cutting in an out. Made for a rough Monday as well. I think i'm sitting the boat on and staying on shore this year!

There is also rumours that some friends of mine (Same ones who did the Claude Von Stroke after-party at the works last year) are planning to have a Dubfire after-party. Perhaps he's booked for DEMF as well? Unconfirmed tho...

It sounds silly! What does the P stand for?

I assume Paxahau?

There is also issues from the city which is preventing them from calling it's "Detroit's" electronic music festival. So they can't use DEMF anymore for marketing. So I guess instead of calling it Movement all the time, they went with PEMF.

Russell Industrial hasent been confirmed for the venue yet...
there are rumors about it... or a factory somewhere in the city thats used to make planes... and dont believe was ever used for an event...

Dave Clarke and Roni Size are exclusive to the NightSneak afterparty... i think same goes w/ Umek...
unless something changes... those 3 will not be playing DEMF...

the boat was a blast the first year... second year was good but the sound issues did suck...
hopefully its all worked out... i never miss it... usually my favorite party of the weekend...

Bleu will have some parties as well... they have been bringing in some bigger names, and i doubt DEMF wkd will be an exception...

Monarch/Vain lost Erick Morillo on fri nite... he was gonna do a opening party... the owners dont have the $$ to pay for him...

its not DEMF because Carol Marvin, who used to run the show years ago owns the rights to the name...
and isnt giving up the name... so we get PEMF... its always gonan be tech fest or demf to me tho...

I figured Clarke would be playing... Umek is just making up for the Nightsneak anniversary party he bailed on a while back. Assumed he was here for DEMF and kill two birds one stone...

How far are the locations of the past after parties from the Hart Plaza? Trying to figure out if it would be easier to rent a car or cab it every where.

Some are walking, but I would suggest cabbing for safety considering it is Detroit! Not worth it to get a car if you're staying downtown.

Ryan Elliott, Ben Klock and Monolake added to the line-up.

Ben Klock...epic

Monolake? or Monoloc?

Posted by LightsOut on Mar-14-2011 01:58:

Monolake is a pretty random booking imo, but I'd definitely check it out, hoping Henke brings the monodeck with

I've read about him/her/them a lot, but no idea what kind of music it is.

Describe?

Posted by Mach X on Mar-14-2011 04:10:

Pan Pot as well yeah? Or did someone already mention that?

Monolake used to be Robert Henke and Gerhard Behles, but I think Behles is focusing on Ableton exclusively now, so it's just Henke.

He's pretty minimal techno/microhouse, with a kinda ambient dub vibe. Definitely one of the pioneers in terms of digital PA's/mixing/producing. He'd done a ton of remixes/collaborations with some of the big Berlin names like Ellen Allien, Modeselektor, Apparat and T++...

He also custom built his own midi controller for Ableton called the monodeck, which has got to be the single coolest controller ever imo, wish he would start selling them......this thing is completely bonkers!

Posted by knacker on Mar-14-2011 15:38:

MONOLAKE are amazing.. a huge influence on me when I was just beginning production. Deep, textured German dub techno..

One of my favorite performances was seeing them live in Toronto years ago using the prototype of what would become Ableton live... a time when tech artists performed actual live p.a.'s - creating music on the fly - rather than just mixing full tracks together in ableton and calling it 'live'

Their albums Hongkong (on the great Chain Reaction label) and Gravity are must listens.

more recently, Robert Henke performed his ATOM installation at Mutek in 2009

Do NOT miss Monloake!!
