Yeah, to be honest I think if you're using a sine wave then you're probably cheating. That's just using your sampler as a wavetable synthesiser IMO, there's really no difference at all.

That said, I'm doing something similar for a few of my sounds, but at least my original sample was a bit more out there, a chord played by a string ensemble.

I already started before the 1 sample limit and was making a track with sound from my mouth only. Wanted to do that for quite some time anyways. It sounds like crap but it is fun.

I think MeanLikeSheen's synth snort down will follow and then Wet4Jet's Ninja Olympics.

You don't want my lawyers bending you over for unlicensed use of my name. Trust me, don't join the ranks of trolls who still doubt that all I do is win. C

something like making farts with white noise could be an option?

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 15:34:

keenonsheen rofl. someone is trying to duplicate my success with aliases.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Mar-09-2011 15:36:

I'm not sure wether I should be offended or flattered by the clever mimicry. OF course my name was meanlikesheen but keenonsheen is much better.

Are we allowed to use any effects on the sampler channel, such as delays or reverbs?

Good contest, ill give it a go.

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Mar-09-2011 20:09:

Yup. Whatever you can od with one sample

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 20:29:

im still not sure what this contest is about? make 1 minute noise using for example a sampled lead? do you mean white noise?

Posted by cryophonik on Mar-09-2011 20:31:

Just for clarification, a spoken phrase that I chop up/granularize to create the various parts counts as a single "sample", right?

Posted by Rodri Santos on Mar-09-2011 20:33:

But, should it sound good, bad, should just be completely different (for example you pick a kick from the vengeance pack and you make it sound like a piano) ?

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 20:35:

could I get an example of what is meant to with a sample?

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Mar-09-2011 21:04:

No

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 21:13:

a one minute tune with only one sample,,, ex: i make a tune using only one kickdrum sample.thats what i did, it sounds like shit but it was fun

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 21:27:

oh but the rule is to use only one sample? i think i get it. this is how i normally work anyway

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 22:17:

ok ive made something, where do i deliver?

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Mar-09-2011 22:19:

just pm me a link

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 22:25:

done. if its ok im gonna upload the separate parts into the other thread too (the collab loop thingy).

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Mar-09-2011 22:54:

can people also submit the individual sample you used.

Posted by 112268 on Mar-09-2011 22:58:

Mine is from Reason Factory Sound Bank and called Bd_Xfile2.wav. Its a distorted 909 basedrum with a long tail. Theres no simple way of exporting it from the factory bank, but I could just make a oneshot of it in the sequencer if its that important? Did you get the clip btw?

edit: it would be much easier if I just submitted the project file, not sure if you have Reason?

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Mar-09-2011 23:23:

lol i think you know that answer. Just have it by itself right at the beginning not effected.

Posted by meriter on Mar-10-2011 05:56:
