lol yeah, you can't read binary?
EDIT: VDubya, if you're at Decadence, we can have an objective experiment on how much the drugs suck

I didn't mean it like that - as a sudden change - lots of great years at System/Guv after the raves ended...but that's also because the crowd always had a strong representation of the same people who went to those raves originally

The above statement should be tempered with "if you're routinely ingesting excessive amounts of the stuff and/or combining it with other intoxicants".
No one "loses all their serotonin" - prior disposition and mental state, sleep and fluid deprivation from staying up dancing all night, adultered pills and the aforementioned combining of intoxicants are all much more likely to be factors when it comes to longterm mood and cognitive impairment.
The most recent studies conducted by MAPS have shown that in moderate doses, MDMA is relatively safe for human consumption; they'v even gone so far as to petition the U.S. government to have it approved as a prescription medicine.

That's interesting because one of my good friends who is currently going to school to study Biopsychology said her professor recently did a lecture on the effects of MDMA on the brain, and that even in small doses (I'm talking one dose in a year), it has tangible effects on serotonin production, as well as memory.
If I said anyone "lost all their serotonin" obviously I was exaggerating, but there have been long term studies done that do conclusively show that MDMA damages your brain, and excessive use damages it significantly.
Also, MAPS sponsors trials to try to develop MDMA into prescription medication. I wouldn't be surprised at all that an organization which is basically a pro-MDMA/psychedelics/marijuana association has said that it's relatively safe.
To put that into perspective, "Big Tobacco" has conducted lots of studies saying that cigarettes aren't that bad for you, and can even be beneficial.
And when MDMA was first created, it was used as a prescription medication. I'm not sure what the governing body for regulating food and drugs is in Canada, but once the FDA got some actual longterm data from studies on the use of MDMA, it was made illegal. I mean you used to be able to buy heroin in a Sears catalog too.
If there even was a chance that MDMA could be made to be taken in a manner that would be safe for humans, it's likely that the dosage would be much smaller than your average club-goer would take in a night.

A "tanglible effect" could mean pretty much anything. And as far as cognitive function goes, this is by far the most accurate study undertaken to date.
Either way, we both agree that moderation is key. As is education - pop enough pills from indeterminate sources into your mouth and over time, you certainly will learn something...

Thank you very much for that article. I'll feel much better about doing it now
Wow, though...this sentence "So does this mean that ecstasy really is the risk-free, hangover-free, miracle drug that lets young ravers and gamers party all weekend without having to pay the price?"
Maybe not an alcohol hangover, but I definitely am not feeling in tip-top shape the next day by any means lol. I tend to get pretty bad headaches the day after, even when I take 5-HTP.

Booze should be a scheduled drug!

Haha I've done 9 of those listed in that bar graph, and alcohol BY FAR has caused the most problems for me

Hmm I would have to disagree with whatever research this person is presenting. I am not an avid "pusher" of taking drugs, but taking a *small* dose once a year is going to have little to no affect. Before I judge, I would have to wonder what the dose is that she is using to base on this once-per-year study? Is she referring to immediate or long term affects? I also concentrated in biopsychology and neuroscience, (ie: I have taken 5-6 advanced courses, not just one lecture) and I never read any research that would agree with this. And trust me when I say that I was VERY well read in these subjects. Like the last poster said, everyting in moderation, while taking safety precautions.
And, as someone who prefers drinking, but has taken a pill or two on special occasions, I can tell you that in "my experience" the quality has absolutely gone down. In the past five-six years I have used no more than twice a year, so I can assure you it is not my tolerance, but, more my perception to the change in quality.
Then again: Toronto isht >>>>>NYC isht. True story

I'm w Del and others.
Also, I'll be the first to admit that yeah most of my time being annoyed with the scene is because I haven't gone to many other places to explore 'better' music/vibe etc. Before it was just so easy, you could go to a few places regularly and it would be consistently good.
Now some of those places are consistently mediocre.
One of my top fav parties in the last few years though was being completely blown away by Max Graham at Footwork when he dropped an amazing amazing melodic trance set (non cheese, minimal vocals and when he did drop vocals they were QUALITY).
I want MORE like that.

Actually, I just realized that you started in 2005, so that changes my statement bit, because most of the quality "stuff" I was referring to was 2000-2004 (literally!)
Also, as for Armin, thats kind of a poor reference, because even some of us ol skoolers thought armin was brilliant in his early days (ie: Club Eau set, Godskitchen, etc...) and gone down the cheese road as of the last few years

I admit, that was a bit of a hyperbole on my part, but at least from my pov there's certain people that look at J00F as if he can do no wrong, much like the younger generation looking at Armin like that.
I do agree with you, as I saw Armin at the first LoL I went to back in 2005, and oh how the mighty have fallen.

Most of the time. The triple stacked white kappas I got from NYC in like 2007-2008 were craaaaaazy good. Just as good as anything I've ever had in TO.

But I see what you mean. I can see a huge difference even between the Guv from 2006 and the Guv now. It's like the cast of Jersey Shore and all of their 1,000 brothers, sisters, and cousins go there now.
PS. VDub I know that was you I saw up on the speakers fist pumping with your shirt off 2 weekends ago.

oh dear, well I will take your word for it, because I have never taken more than one at a time, and usually take a half. Triple stacks would kill me!! LOL remember, I havent done that shit in soooo long, and very rarely. I believe you.
yeahhh I miss the old Armin. He played a lot more progressive and spacey trance and had some banger productions. Like all the threads state though, people move on, sometimes not in our favor.

I was completely blown away the first time I saw Armin. Back then (I haven't been to a LoL in a couple years so I'm not sure if it's still the case) but I was there from 10pm-10am. Add to that the fact it was my first time taking E and I took 4 1/2, and

Single/Double/Triple stacked means nothing and doesnt directly correlate to the strength of the pill... the only difference is one is bigger than the other but thats it... biggest myth ever!
