If something big is in the works that measn this whole list of songs will be gone and be replaced bys tuff that is new? Half the songs here are BIG TIME OLd. I heard PPK over 2 years ago @ Activ-8( Chris C should remember that place . Was good While it lasted). If things are in the works that means the whole list of this should be revolutionized. I am greatly awaiting to see the results of these "plans". Jeez. This is starting to sound like the plans of "the brain". lol jk. But I am greatly anticipating the results. If you're planing to single Handedly trying to banish all these songs from the charts and replacing them with good electronic musik that is not "cheesy" then good luck. You got your work cutout for you.

No Problem, I happen to be an Experienced hooligan lol jk.

Posted by Jobe5454 on Aug-26-2002 17:50:

you can buy all the tracks

There's a TON of online record shops where you can buy all the cds you guys want.. Secondly don't support canadian radio broadcasting if you don't like it, all you people complain about Z103 then don't listen to it, i for one never listen to the radio, accept for 107 on my way to work, the rest of the time i slide in my cds and cruise right along.. Z103 is a joke and i don't care how much shit they play off the vandit record label they'll still be a shit radio station IMO... Support the artists by buying there cds/vinyls, listening to a certain radio station is not gonna help your favourite artist out, so let Z103 burn to the ground..

I hope that I didnt come across as a Z supporter, because thats the last thing I am.

The thing is that Most of the people on this MSG board, dont have a clue how the system works, and thats a small part of the problem, lack of knowledge and balls. But we cant hide behind a CD and ignore the problem, be vocal about it, dont just say Yaa, Z sucks. The only thing I read from a comment like that is that you know shit (not directed at you personally general comment), because Z is a large part of Torontos music industry if you like it or not, Top 40 (House, Euro, Hip-Hop and R&B) tracks are approximately 70 % of the music market (in North America), and if you cut that out, that there is a bigger problem.

Im not telling you to support Z, and also I dont agree with 99.99999% of the shit they do and play, but we still need that part of the industry to have new music, styles, artists, parties ect.

In that case i will send them a Bi-weekly Email requesting trance. That will be doing my part. As for supporting artists, I support them by going to their gigs (ie AVB @ guv Etc). I pay as much money to go see them as I do for one cd. Yes I do by their vinyls as well NOW . but i will never buy a corporate made Cd unless I will like each and every song on it. Otherwise I refuse to pay for it.

I do believe Z103.5 has a large portion of the radio market in TO (since they killed energy 108). But I will stick to supporting the ARtists by going to their events, not by buying a cd that only has one of their songs on it with the rest being shit.

Ps I still will kick Danny D off the Air some day someday....

So pionneer your own radio station :)

fair enough, but i don't think trying to change Z103 is the way to go, I don't believe you can convince them they should change there proven product to anything then what it already is.. I think what you would have to do is, start another station right from scratch.. And, yes i realise that there has to be a certain number of canadian content played every hour.. However, I think you'd be surprised as to how many producers there are in Canada.. i can think of three off the top of my head, im sure there's lots more.. Also once people start hearing this new station i wouldn't be surprised if you got alot more Canadian content pooring in from unknown producers dreaming of the big times.. .. Its a dream of mine to pionneer a revolutionary radio station, however i don't have the means, and i don't have a partner with the same dreams as me.. anyhow, im off topic...

i just don't think trying to change Z103 is the way to go, when they already have a proven product..

P.S. if anyone has the ability transmit radio, PM me

Posted by DEEJAY CHRIS C on Aug-26-2002 20:11:

^^^^^

I have an FM frequency (100.3) in my hand.... and the tower... and the building.

Now what the fuck are you going to tell them (CRTC)....
"Yaa.. will play the 39% Canadian Content, ummmm... but the are white labels, un signed artists" ...

YA OK.... LOL

It's all BS, and thats the end of the story.

Posted by Jobe5454 on Aug-26-2002 20:18:

wrong

Its not white label and these are signed acts.

HELL, one is signed to the oh'so world renowned perfecto label.. YES! ST.Pete resident DJ and producer signed to the perfecto label, there's 1 canadian artist, Nuclear Ramjet, YES! also signed a real label, And frankly they're hitting it big in the goa scene just a matter of time till you hear that name more often.. And of course probably one of the biggest electronic names to come out of Canada, Capital J, also signed to a label, and Hitting it big all over europe.. Oh, and i believe that S4 is as well signed to a "real honest to goodness label " but on that one i could be mistaken, the others are a sure hit though, and im sure there's more.

NO its not BS.. Whats BS is thinking you're gonna change a music station because they get 100 letters from non listeners that would like them to change there music schedule.. HAH! again they have a proven product so they could care less...

And you don't need a building just a transmitter and a lisence, you can do it out of your basement as long as you have the lisence. Hell, i was transmitting radio from my high school at Vaughan secondary, for 2 hours a week, mind you it was only a five mile radiouse, the point is, it can be done.. and again there ARE enough Canadian artists to fill the quota. in my eyes its not BS..

Posted by trancearmada on Aug-26-2002 21:16:

what about Max Graham? raw Canadian tallent! or do they (CRTC) require that the artist be signed on a Canadian label????

Ok... ummmmm... and thats what i have .....

Now... if you are thinking of more a "underground music station" ... it wont happen... the cost is 2 high to run a station with minimal audience. Have you ever looked into a license well do, you quickly find out how much that costs.

So whats the difference if I broadcast 2 hours on Z 103.5 five days a week ... it can be done, and I am making a difference.

Look... the bottom line is that there is not enough people in the city who are into that type of music to support a "standalone" underground station, I think that needs like 5 more years or so.

OHHHHH one more thing ... so there is these Canadian artist to fill the quota, OK... lets see.... 7 days a week, Canadian Contend a must during the times of 6 AM to 12 AM.... so thats 18 hours of the day.... 39% of that is just a bit over 7 hours a day... a track is aprox 5 min long... so thats 84 Canadian tracks per day. Thats alllllot of toons. Dont know about that.

We can argue all we want, and that wont take us anywhere

yo chris.

how bout this...

y dont u start it by spinning non cheese at ur venues first and maybe 5 percent cheese just for the heck of it????

Posted by Jobe5454 on Aug-27-2002 00:04:

Dj El Kay Dee

I never said it would be easy..

I just think its doable..

"non cheese" ummmmmmmmm... ok... WTF is that.... every venue is different... cheese for you could be non-cheese for others... ever think of that.

And i don't think that I play cheese, i play what the crowd wants, and what fits that crowd.

AND

How about I buck the trend in this thread?

Chris, good luck man. Hopefully you manage to bring toronto and the whole golden horeseshoe ( I live in GRIMSBY and I wanna be able to hear this station). And if you need some promoting down here, let me know

What time are u on man? 3 am? I never hear u on there @ work and I work day and evening Shifts.

U Wanna start ur own Radio station? good luck. U need sponsors and yes Cannuck Content. Lots of luck.

I am getting the notion u wanna compete with z103.5. Is this true?

Yap.... because its not mainstream. (one of my points in this thread)

Yap.... read my above statements about licensing and costs, the small market that the underground music is, thats why it has to be a Z 103.5 type station with a twist.
(my other point I stated B4, in this thread.. LOL 2 for 2)

Yap... Yap... Yap...

Look, this station thing was out on the table a long time now, CRCT is a bitch, that one of the problems right now.
And sorry Ray_Finkle, our signal wont go that far right now.

Look...I will make one more statement on all of this,

At least Im trying to make a difference, Im not going to sit hear like a little bitch and cry about Ohhh radio sucks, Z sucks, music sucks, i don't like this and don't like that... ect do something to make a difference. Look at the womans liberation back in the day, they didnt like how they were treated, so they got out of the kitchens and made a difference for them selves. WHY CAN'T WE DO THE SAME???

ahahahhahahaha

Womens Lib.....they are still fighting for lib and yet demand chivalry inspite of wanting to be equal in every aspect...

oh and btw....womens lib in N.America came rather late compared to other nations.....so i guess in the same way we gotta be patient and wait for trance/electronica to take its turn in society....

heres one thing tho...if we all patronize big name djs and producers comin in from abroad, and start spreading the word bout TA.com to people who like em and attend the event, we can start a revolution

Posted by DEEJAY CHRIS C on Aug-27-2002 14:18:

... see.... that wasn't so hard, was it.... LOL

And stations like Z 103, that do play the "cheese" trance or "good" trance, should be supported to an extant, and if you do voice youre opinion to Z 103.5 VIA e-mail, maybe over time they will hear what people have to say, maybe they will realize that the markets is changing slowly.

I dont think that, an e-mail once in the while will kill anyone.
They need to feel the pressure.

actually..u know what????

i had a dream that we had a march on the downtown streets with all banners and shit ranting...."WE WANT TRANCE!!!!" and all that..so they finally give in and we get a radio station, a tv channel, a club, a park too(for the eheads) and all of that

Posted by DEEJAY CHRIS C on Aug-27-2002 14:29:

BTW... Heres an idea

Make up a flyer the size of a business card (3.5x2), 2 sided, full colour, with a simple design with the sites URL and have the members of TA hand them out to people they meat at other events, start a small collection to pay for the cards, like $2 or 5 per member or something...

I can print the cards (thats what I do for the major club anyway) for $150 (5000 pcs) and every member gets 250 card to hand out, the word will spread fast. Look at Hype Multimedia, they started small and now they have like over 10,000 members.

Just an idea,

PS: If anyone needs flyer or business card printing done, contact me.
