Whatever this part is called:

Also, lol at those Dub Xpertz videos; poser central.

Right, what was the fault? The only thing you could say is "wrong" with mine is that the covering over the foam of the ear cup has been steadily peeling off recently, but that's purely aesthetic.

Posted by Syntonic on Apr-30-2011 18:18:

Basically that part just snaps together to hold that left earcup on. I read about other people having problems with them in the DJ Booth forum back in '04. Apparently it was only with a small percentage of them, lucky me. I'll never forget when it happened, I was in the middle of a mix and the shit just fell off and the plastic dug into my head. $150 I'm still wanting some Sennheiser HD-25s

Well, since this thread no longer has anything to do with how you got into classic trance...

I need to buy some new headphones for listening on the computer and potentially taking out and about for walks in decent weather. Anyone have any recommendations? No earbuds, please.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Apr-30-2011 18:21:

No Lews. First you must tell us your trance story.

So are Sennheiser 'phones like the Rolls Royce of headphones or what? I'd never heard of them before.

Troll lately, HD-25s selling point for me is the high attenuation for mid-range richness. I don't think they have a swivel cup though.

These would be the Rolls Royce equivalent:http://store.acousticsounds.com/d/6...1000-Headphones

Gaze upon the glory.

I think my next pair will be these:

I really don't need anything more than about $150.

I have AKG K240, which are getting a bit worn. Still love them, though.

I may make some Audio-Technica ATH-M50S phones my next pair:

Tons of great reviews on them.

Must I? It's such a sensitive subject.

I was listening the classics when they weren't classics yet. Guess I'm to old for this thread, or started listening to early.

Headphones: my cheap Creative EP-630 and my meanwhile >15 years old Koss Pro 75 still do fine.

Posted by Syntonic on Apr-30-2011 18:51:

We all had to do it Lews. Join the brotherhood of jaded trancers.

My Koss pro 25's are still going strong for me.

Heh, I got that one.

Mm, the transition from eurodance to classic trance wasn't too hard in my case, since a lot of the eurodance I was listening to at the time wasn't far removed from classic trance. You'd have a lot of the biggest producers of the time making both (Jam el Mar, for example). Then eurodance started turning shit around '97, but classic trance had also been overtaken by club trance by that point too, and became the new eurodance.

Headphones? Man, I've had my Senn 580s for over 6 years now, and they're still goin' strong! The HD 280s, which I use for outdoors, are starting to show a bit of wear'n'tear (I've had to duct-tape the headband foam to keep it from deteriorating). Still, not bad for 3.5 years of usage.

I got into trance b/c of djs like christopher lawrence and john 00 fleming, back then it was just called trance.

then "trance" as we knew it got real shitty and people started calling the stuff I liked "classic trance".

What You Call "Classic Trance" I call "REAL TRANCE".

What you call Trance now, I call MainStream.

and both of you are wrong. oldschool trance is 1989 to around 1995-6. 97-2001 are considered anthemtrance aka eurotrance aka cheese. then there was another prog wave, techtrance wave, hardtrance wave and finaly asot trance which killed everything (about 2005) and whats going on today is just aftermath of a dead main genre.

yeah, but please, 97-2001 was considered the golden era of trance. even though there WAS some cheese, there was a lot of stuff during that time that was superb

1989-1996 trance is all acid house, yes, and I do pay my respects. but 89-96 just never delivered that "Trance Energy" feeling.

89-96 was indeed psychedelic though

isn't psytrance inspired off of 89-1996 trance?

shit just spills out of your mind onto the keyboard at a rapid pace, doesn't it?

Hardtrance wave? LOL, and what about the around 1993 hardtrance then? Long wave I guess...
Asot trance as sub-genre is far to much honor for a radio show!! Sub genres suck anyways.

Die out of envy, bitchez.

Now ontopic: I "inherited" mah bro's hard drive with thousands of shit Kazaa/mp3.com era music, some of it was shit, but it had some cool stoff that could stand out too. Like Octopus or 1998 or old PvD stuff (Columbia, We are Alive, My World, etc.)... This pretty much ended mah ZOMG TIESTO GOD phase.

Then I ran into [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
while looking for some random crap. I was sold.

yes i said ANOTHER wave. its all in cycles. mockmoon probably being the first hardtrance track!

Like someone pointed out, 89-94 Was basically the Acid House Revolution, which included Hardcore, (Psy)Trance, and others, but not Trance in its "Complete form".

96-01 Is seriously the Golden Age of Trance. Do I know?! Because it wasn't too ambient that you couldnt dance to it (pre-97) and it wasn't filled with Cheese Ass Vocals that dominated over the actual Music (05-present).

Anyone who thinks the 97-01 isnt the Golden Era, simply doesn't know Trance. There were good beats from the Early 90's but nothing like you got after that.

True Story.
