i am becoming a fan of that "kick basslines" SvD and Marco V use them a lot, the only problem i see with them is that they clash a lot with tracks that doesn't have that kind of bassline and mixing them is a pain in the ass

Yeah, it's cool, it'll be boring as shit in while though. It basically like the hip hop 808 boom kick, but with a tighter, more punchy attack, then a really thin mid bass to add the harmonics.

You really gotta work to get your kick sample right though and if you chose the wrong snare you'll fuck the grove, although I guess that could be said for any drum pattern.

That set is incredibly crappy isn't it? Techno (and don't kill me plz) isn't more than kick snare hats and a bass (and yet please understand what i mean) but works incredibly well on big sound systems, visuals make the difference a lot of times.

Watching a film without audio---> Shit
Watching a film without image---> Shit

With music really works in a similar way besides it shouldn't

Sounds like what George Lucas said about a movie being 50% audio and 50% visual.

George Lucas is a moron and doesn't even understand his own movies.

It's an ice cannon. Fires out a really fine, really cold mist which fills the dancefloor to the point where you can't see your hand in front of your face in about 2 seconds.

They do tend to add to the atmosphere, definitely the first few times they go off in a night because those who know about them anticipate it and those who don't are amazed because they've never experienced it before.
